iPod?

Hello! I'm somewhat new to Designtechnica (I used to go on last year but just signed up!). I have an MP3 player - a Nomad Jukebox Zen NX 30GB. I wanted to get a 20GB iPod. I was wondering if it was worth all the money? Some people like it, others don't on review places (Amazon is where I got most of my sources). Some please help!

Well if you already have a 30BG Zen, don't you think going to a 20GB iPod would be a step back? Do you not like your Zen?

Since you already have one that is pretty good, I would wait until the summer (probably late summer) when the larger 1.25" drives are available. iRIver, iPod and many others will be upgrading their storage capacity on the small HD based players and the flash memory players will have much more storage capacity.

You could also wait until the rumors about Apple releasing a PDA with an iPod hard drive are confirmed.

Of course, if you always wait...you'll never get any products - but I think this summer is going to be big.

We did a small study on the MP3 players here, using good head phones, and the Ipod didnt score that high.
A test for you to try.
Grab a good headphone, and go to the store and use the SAME headphones on EACH unit. Compare the sound with THAT pair of headphones. Its a good test, and it works. Remeber that the headphone you get with the units are some time Crap, or they are ONLY for use with that item. And eventually they will fall apart, get lost, or die out. Using another headphone that is good quality, and you can get ANYTIME they fail is a better idea.

Any particular reasons on why you want an iPod when you already have a Zen? Are you just ready for something new?

I love my iPod though :) Yes, I think it's worth the money I paid for it, especially because of the variety of accessories and third party support.

yea dude, if you got a 30gb Zen, why downgrade? (heheh, I would still consider getting a 40gb iPod a downgrade ;) )

I do like my 30GB Zen NX. I'll never use that much memory - I bought the 30GB NX because it was Best Buy said they weren't getting any 20GB ones. I was just wondering what other people really thought about the iPod because eventually, I want to get one - especially now that iTunes is available for Windows. I wasn't PLANNING on getting an iPod anytime soon, anyways. Thanks for the feedback, though!

1 person gets Ipod= 20 ppl that didnt..
those 20= 20x20=400
those 400=8000
those 8000= 160,000 that didnt get it.. but the company sold a cheap $2 product and made $18 each.... They will NEVEr get to 8000.

It comes down to 1 thing...
It takes 20 times as many persons that GET the item, for those that DONT get the item, but they spend money, to get on a list.
the list will only be about 7-8 deep/levels...
20 ppl pay $20=$400 for 1 person to get an item. NICE profit...
