I just purchased the Sony T1 a couple weeks ago and I am very impressed with it. While it doesn't have quite the power of a bigger camera like the new F828, what it lacks in power it makes up for in versatility. I love being able to carry it around without having to worry about it. I actually bought a Canon Powershot case for it that fits on my belt. I will be getting the LCS-THA case for it as soon as I can. I did purchase the MPK-THA Marine Pack and have yet to really use it. I didn't buy it for underwater, I bought it more to protect the camera from the harsh elements on the Cape.

I also have the Sony P5 Camera and have taken over 10,000 pics with it. This little camera has been a awesome device. I was going to buy the F828 but decided that I couldn't really work and carry this camera. I didn't think I would be comfortable leaving it laying around the workplace either so that influenced my decision to get the T1.

I don't claim to be a great photographer but I know what a good picture looks like and I have taken many. I am still in the experimental stage with the T1. I have taken a couple hundred with it and am very satisfied with the results. I aways shoot at the highest setting so I get the most bang for my buck but I am considering taking pics at the 3M size just because I dont really need 5M pictures all the time..

If I were going out just to shoot pictures, I would have got the F828, I strongly considered it but for my needs, it was just too big to be able to quickly pull it out and put it away while working.

I also considered the P10 because it is just like the P5 except it can shoot 5MP pictures. Alas, the newest gadget on the market got me excited and I went for it. The novelty alone was a definite buying factor. I love having the coolest toys. It goes well with my Sony NX70 Clie and my Sony Gigavault hard drive that I carry in my case every day.

I hope this post has been informative and welcome from this new member of the forum. I get in these phases where I want to spill my guts from time to time. Thanks for letting me be a part of the discussion. I hope I get the chance to dazzle you with brilliance again sometime.

Moderators, Feel free to move this if you feel it's not in the right forum. Thanks.

Good info Badone.... but why did you only look at Sony models?

I mainly considered Sony because I have a lot of Sony Electronics. I have an investment in memory sticks for the Sony and the new T1, even though it takes the Duo memory stick which is about half the size, has an adaptor to plug it into a device that reads standard memory sticks.

I have always had good luck with my Sony products and have had good tech support. If you read my post on Samsung DLP tv's, you will see that I returned a Sony tv because I wasn't satisfied with the quality. That shows that I wouldn't settle for an inferior product just because it has the Sony name.

You know what they say though, "Sony, no baloney".

To the Moderators;

I posted a picture of my T1 camera on my first post and again on the second but they have yet to show up. Is it something I am doing wrong or am I not allowed to post pictures here?

Thanks,

I would suggest you look at the Fuji Finepix...
Killer cameras, and about 1/3 less.

Thanks for the tip. I believe they are fine cameras and reasonable priced but as you can see, I already bought the camera I will be using for a while.
