I reformatted my hdd100, re-installed the DMM version 2 software and re-applied the 6.6 firmware patch and, voila, when I copied over my music all songs are now listing and playing in the correct order. So, my only serious gripe with the unit is fixed. Yes, the DMM software stinks, but otherwise I'm delighted with this Philips product.

I've been playing around with the Microsoft Access database that the DMM uses to store music information on the PC side and had figured out how to create playlists that restored the original CD play order- I even wrote a VB program to make the playlists. That was kind of fun, but unnecessary it turns out.

Until the iPod can record live audio, the hdd100 has it beat.

Hey man!

I think we would all welcome a new little program to make playlists!

Please post it up for download!

Thx!

on teh cd that came with your hdd100, it will teach you how to recored fomr 'line in'.

U basicly need a 3.5mm audio jack cable that goes out from your LP player (whatever jack that is) into your HDD100's 3.5mm input jack.

I plan to record MP3s from vinyl records and cassettes, too. I will use a cable to connect the left and right outputs of my stereo amplifier to the line-in jack of the hdd100. Here is a picture of the cable I'll use:

Fortunately, the hdd100's line-in input works with both optical and old-fashioned electrical cables.

To set the unit up to record using line-in, press Menu, scroll down to Record Mode and select Record Line by pressing the right arrow button. Connect the cable, press the down arrow button to start recording, then start playing your LP.

Hope this helps.
