Hi all.
I just installed a new fan, a Spire WhisperRock IV for AMD up to XP 3200+, and i only got a xp 1700+, and the cpu temp was around 72 Celsius (161 Fahrenheit) with the old fan... And now it`s still the same.. actually getting hotter sometimes too... How can my cpu still be this hot after i installed the new fan? do i need some blowholes perhaps? or is my cpu just f***d up?
Help!
Any advice is appreciated.

72c ?! Holy Jesus, dude. You sure you got the cpu lapped correctly? are you sure your onboard sensors arent wrong? 72c is so very... well.. HOT.

You probably have the heatsink/fan on backwards or not clipped down correctly. You have the rest of your case fans on correctly right?

i`m not sure of anything.... but i am certain that the heatsink/fan isn`t backwards, and i`m sure that it`s clipped down correctly..
rest of case fans? i have only a cpu fan, a fan on the graphicscard, and one in the power thingy...
but i can use the old cpu fan to do something if neccessary....
Any ideas as to how i can find out if the temp is correct or not?
DID you USE GELL on the CPU for heat sink

Yeah, i used GELL, or what i would call Gel, on the cpu....

My guess is that your new fan or heatsink just isn't as big or as fast as your old one. Maybe try yet a nother one and see if that helps?
I would Check the Wires to make sure is the CPU, and not something else, such as case temp.
AND check the fan to see if its working. Turn on with case OPEN...
Monitor the TEMP with case open...IT SHOULD NOT start at a high temp, it should increase from amoething in the area of 30-40c and then go up...If it starts HIGH, then its WRONG.
