I was given (by my cousin) a sony model PCG-9411. He thinks the fan stopped and overheated the motherboard. The light comes on the power source but the computer won't power up.
Any ideas? suggestions? How costly and how difficult would motherboard replacement be?
Thanks in advance.
Mike
As for price I would check with a sony repair station, my guess is ALOT.
And its a good thought that it was the CPU.
But there is a problem.
With many mobo, when something critical goes out, ALOT of other things may also. Many Laptops have sideboards for accessories. These may be affested also, if so, you may have to repair the whole insides. except for the drive(maybe). And outing in a mobo, with corrupted sideboards, is the same as haveing a faulty video card and you replace the Mobo, only to burn it out again.
Should still be less(about 1/2) of buying a new one, IF it can be repaired.
Fan or Heating Assembly mostly ranges from $50 - $65. You can check out pricing with
