View Full Version : HDD100 - Player pauses/freezes for 2/3 seconds in mid track about every 10 mins?

Hello again,

New to the forum.

I played the HDD100 with latest firmware today for a few hours and noticed (annoyingly) that every 10-15 mins it freezes for 2/3 seconds in the middle of a song. (It doesnt crash, but just pauses). The song always continues after the pause. It is a bit like the hard disk whirls in to action then the song continous. Any one else have this on their player?

PS Resetting does not cure it and i believe that the MP3 files are all 192 bit rate and should therefore be ok. It is also different tracks each time, and if you rewind and play again it does not happen again.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Tink.

was it OK, and doing good before?
Is this on a single song, or just every 10-15 minutes.
and does it repaet again every 10-15 minutes.

This is a know bug - read our bugs list in this forum on the 6.6 Firmware.

I also get this bug. We are waiting on Philips to post a fix. If you can, grab the 4.0 Firmware it didnt have this bug, only the track-list one.

Thanks for replying guys...

I am unsure if it was ok before.... as soon as i got it i wiped the hard disk and installed version 6.6 ! It is not on a single song just randomly on different songs. Looking at some of the other posts i think this is what is happening to others....

Does anyone have a version 4 firmware that they could email ? It is no longer on the philips site.

Is it likely that Philips will post a newer firmware? are they fairly regular still?

THANKS EVERYONE,

TINK.

Hello guys! This is France...

I feel less sad since I saw that I'm not the only one having problems with the DMM and the 2-3 seconds pause every 10 minutes...

I will donwnload version 4 and test it. Thx to the one who found it !

Do you have an idea if Philips is investigating this problem ?

I did a format this week end. Still the same problem with a clean disk !

That's incredible there is no emergency patch to fix this problem !

I've just got it this week end. I will try it since the format didn't solve the problem. It seems it has reduced the number of pauses but I can't guarantee.
I keep u informed.

Since firmware 4.0 is installed, no more freeze problem. However, I had to reset it today.

I keep the release 4.0

Thats good to hear.

Personally, I can live with the rare reseting more than the constant annoying pausing.

WHY is it that current TECH is more beta ware, then before.
Its as bad as current games coming out as beta.

FYI, after 2 days testing the 4.0 firmware, these are my conclusions:
- no more 2-3 seconds pause every 10-15 min
- switch on of the device much more faster
- the sorting problem is not a big issue (I even didn't notice it...)
- very stable if you just listen music. However it can happen that it freezes if you use the buttons. I had to reset it (I had the problem once only).

Conclusion: Don't use the 6.6, but the 4.0 !!!

Well, the 4.0 has no pouse bug like 6.6, but 6.6 has some other improvements, so i would probably sugest 6.6 becouse its not that annoying to me.
