I have a Samsung YeppYP-55v and this is my first mp3 player and I am trying really hard to install this software on my own. However, I don’t know where to start. I have installed the software from the Yepp installation software CD, Rev 1.2, the driver and the ripper successfully. I checked to see if the driver is working properly through the device manager and it is, at least it tells me “this device is working properly”. I am following the manual that it came with, which tells me that if the driver is in place to go to “Downloading/Uploading files” on page 20. Since the driver is in place I followed the directions on page 20, but when it comes to the part where it says to “Select the file to save and drag-and-drop it into the removable disk icon. Mine does not have the removable disk (E:) icon that it shows in the really small picture; mine has a compact disc (E:) icon. On the following page 21 “Disconnecting the USB cable” it says I should have a green arrow in the taskbar on the bottom right of the window. My computer does not display this arrow at all.
Can you please help?
JDC
Yepp, driver isnt installed.
You got the progs, but not the driver.
Which OS do you have?

Wow, first thing you'd want to do is start using a real OS, Windows ME is compelete and utter garbage, even Windows 98SE is better.
The CD Ripper program is the opposite of a CD Burning Program. Instead of putting tracks on a CD, you take them off of one and put them into MP3 files which the Yepp or your computer can then play. The other program is one to update your player with the newest firmware. Really it sounds like there is a problem with the is some kind of problem with your OS not recognizing it properly. Is that E: CD-Rom Drive icon there all the time or only when you hook the Yepp up to your USB port?

1. Win ME isnt that good, it dont have the Built-in drivers for USB, or any drivers to USE anything to attach to the system.
I would suggest an upgrade of the OS, win 2000 is wonderful.
NOW, there is a chance someone FIXed this with an update. I havent seen one.

Good luck fixing it man, and if you can get XP. When I first got this thing, I made sure to set it up in the shop before I ever paid for it and even upgraded it in store to make sure it'd work properly. It took me about 5 minutes from cutting open the big round container to having a working MP3 Player hooked into my laptop and receiving files. Ever since then its been virtually plug and play, except for a few times that I'd needed to change the cord to another USB port for some reason or another.
You should check Windows Update on your Start Menu and get all the updates there that are available, and if that doesn't help then a system upgrade would be in order.
Good Luck,
Peter

:)Success at last! Finally got the removable driver fixed. What I did was to uninstall the software that it came with and downloaded the driver from the samsungusa site. Low and behold, removable disk present! Started copying files immediately and was successfull. My guess, it was a software problem? Anyway, thanks for your imput Peter and ECA.
Thanks again,
JDC :)
windows is VERY funny, it really dont remove STUFF properly.
Good luck
jdcc23, keep in mind that windows ME is pretty flakey with USB. If you get into another state were windows ME is not seeing the device, simply unplugging the device from the USB cable is not good enough. You may actually have to unplug the USB cable from the computer, then reconnect.
ME is strange like that.
Ms dropped Me before it dropped win 98... It was that bad.
