Alright guys...about a month ago I posted some info on my new power supply and how I sleeved it with uv reactive sleeving.

That was just the first step in putting together my new rig.

I'm not really putting together a "new" rig, just updating the current one...here is a list of the components that I have kept:

-AMD Athlon 1800+
-512MB DDR333
-80GB 7200 RPM HDD
-128MB DDR ATI Radeon
-Hauppauge TV Tuner
-Audigy 2

Here is what will be new:

-500watt PSU
-8x DVD Burner (will be stealthed)
-Zalman CNPS 7000 cooler
-New case w/ 3 windows

Those are the newest parts/components so far. Only product I see in the future is some sort of fan controller/thermal monitor (already have eyes set on a couple).

Oh yeah, and almost every sort of cable will get uv reactive sleeving

That is the whole theme of this project and the reason I'm doing this. I'll update this thread with pics to show you the new components and things I thought everyone would be interested in.

If anyone has any questions/comments/ideas/suggestions on this project, or would like to see certain pictures, please let me know

Well, here goes :)

Ok, first step of this project started with the new 500watt power supply
I already posted a thread on this a month ago as I was working on it, but here are some pictures.

Other than wanting to have a UV theme, my next biggest reason for this project was to get a new case. The case that I was using just didn't cut it...running out of room, very little air flow, flimsy, etc.

So it was time for something new! I literally read reviews and searched around for cases and prices for about two months. During the search, I had a good idea of what I wanted in a case and what kind of potential I wanted it to have. I was able to narrow it down to about half a dozen cases, and finally found one that would stole my heart.

Here it is, the Superflower TT 301...

Any reason why you chose that brand PSU? I just purchased a 550W Antec PSU and found it hard to choose which brand to go with. Of course the one I chose is pretty bland compared to yours.

Nice, how do you like that power supply so far?

When I was doing my research, I found there were many good powersupplies out there...I just had to narrow it down to the theme for my new setup.

This one is made by Aspire, which isn't a popular PSU company such as Antech, Thermaltake, Zalman, Raidmax, etc.

The main reasons I chose this PSU over the others was:

-already came with acrylic cover
-two 4 blue LED fans
-Speed controller
-UV reactive molex connectors
-All this for only $55

I figured that once I sleeved it, it would fit my UV theme pretty well :) Knock on wood, no problems so far :)

Ok here are some more pics before I head into the gym

1st pic: Click here (http://mysite.verizon.net/~vze7h5i5/pub/Rig/inside2.JPG) to see the mobotray with two black exhaust stock fans

2nd pic: Click here (http://mysite.verizon.net/~vze7h5i5/pub/Rig/inside1.JPG) to see a closeup of how the hard drive cage attaches to the bottom of the case and two black intake stock fans

3rd pic: Click here (http://mysite.verizon.net/~vze7h5i5/pub/Rig/inside3JPG) to see the case w/ both side panels removed, along with the mobo tray, and the hard drive cage.

Even though I like the whole hard drive cage idea, I won't be using it So removing the hard drive cage is very easy and you can see it removed in the pictures.

The only problem now is removing the part that attaches the hard drive cage to the bottom of the case, as seen in picture 2. This thing is held in by rivets, not screws. So we had to drill this thing out.

Here are pictures of the fans (we won't be using the black stock fans), extension cables, and UV Cold Cathodes I will be using.

The UV cold cathodes that are pictured crapped out on me last week...so yesterday I received my new cold cathodes and I finished sleeving them (they will actually have blue heatshrink). They look just like the ones pictured though...go figure

1st pic: Cilck here (http://mysite.verizon.net/~vze7h5i5/pub/Rig/fans1.JPG) to see the fans and extension cables

2nd pic: click here (http://mysite.verizon.net/~vze7h5i5/pub/Rig/fans2.JPG) to see another pic of the fans and cables

3rd pic: Click here (http://mysite.verizon.net/~vze7h5i5/pub/Rig/ccfl.JPG) to see the cold cathodes.

This thing is heavy! But man, it's a beauty :)

This thing will replace my Thermaltake Volcano 6cu+

haha dude it's crazy over here. I used three different digital cameras (which I took pics of ) lol...a total of ~400 some pictures, so I sift through them and find the ones that would be interesting.

The final product will be posted soon lol :)

Ok well the Zalman 7000 is a big HSF unit. There are some mobos out there that can't accomodate this thing due to its size.

Luckily this unit would fit in my mobo, but I had to clip off a part of the actual clip of the HSF.

Here are some pics showing the end that I had to cut off

1st pic: Click here (http://mysite.verizon.net/~vze7h5i5/pub/Rig/zalman/Zalmanclip1.jpg) to see the clip

2nd pic: Click here (http://mysite.verizon.net/~vze7h5i5/pub/Rig/zalman/Zalmanclip2.jpg) to see a close up

Thanks guys, really do appreciate the support and comments :)

I wish you guys could see it in person, as good as the pics look they really dont do it any justice.

The only other thing that I'm expecting to do to it anytime soon is to add a fan controller/thermal monitor.
