Hello everyone,

Lately I've been having all kinds of trouble with my PC. My system is sometimes nearly brought to a halt-- the usual suspects I suppose (spyware, adware, trojans, etc.). Anyway, I've got some specific problems I'd like to explain and if anyone has any information or possible solutions to give I'd be really grateful.

First of all, My Roxio Easy CD Creator has stopped working. It will usually burn a CD about 50% but then will shut off, saying that the application has encountered a problem and must be ended. Could spyware or trojans be interfering with its operation?

Secondly, in the system tray on the far right of the Start Toolbar, the word "Address" has appeared immediately to the left of the system icons. What could have done this?

And finally, every single time I try to shut down my computer, it brings up a prompt telling me that a program called "O" (not sure if it's the number or the letter) is not responding and of course it must be ended for the computer to successfully shut down. This program does not show up under the active processes list on the Task Manager, however. What can I do?

Well, thanks for your time.

I'd like to conclude with a short message to all the makers of adware, spyware, and viruses: If there is a Hell, I hope you bastards are at the top of Satan's MOST WANTED.

Ok my initial response for you ///

1)Do a clean reinstall of windows after backing up all your data.
2)Go buy a different CD burner and see if that fixes your problem.

Can you go here and post your system spec's please.. Make sure you don't post the serial numbers for the software you own..

Download spybot here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/

and adaware here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Both have free versions that should be able to delete the spyware on your system.

Then use a program like Tune-up utilities to keep your system clean and operating like a well-oiled-machine.

Check out our System Optimization Guide which will show you several programs for keeping your system clean: http://reviews.designtechnica.com/guide18.html

I'd be interested to hear if Spybot and Adaware get rid of all those problems. While you are having him download and install programs make sure he does a complete virus scan with updated definitions.

... easier to start fresh =P

Well, I am happy to report that, along with some meticulous registry cleaning, adaware and the virus scan seem to have taken care of my problems. My Roxio easy CD creator works again, and the process "0" has apparently been removed. Oh, and the problem with the word "address" next to the system tray icons wasn't actually related to spyware or viruses; that was there because my roommate added the address toolbar to my start toolbar (pretty silly of me not to figure that out sooner).

But I do have one more question. Is the application "zzb" some sort of spyware or virus?
