I'm definately needing help in deciding on a laptop to get, and this looks to be the best place after 72 hrs of hard searching for solid information.

I'm in need of a laptop with the following requirements:

1) Decent battery life (the higher the better, at least 2.5)
2) Able to play NONfps games (silly games like Freedom Force, but no more intensive than WC3)

Other than those, just the typical college kid's needs. I'm trying my hardest to keep this under $1100, and I'm not looking for anything super top of the line. Basically, I'm looking for the best that $1100 can get me until I'm out in the work force 3 years from now and can buy whatever my heart desires.

I know my main concern really are the two I listed, with gaming being more of a passive activity on this machine than a main one. I'd greatly appreciate it if you guys can give me some particular stats to look for in my case, specifcally what kind of video card would be best for me need. If this information isn't conclusive enough concerning my needs, let me know and I'll be as specific as possible.

Thanks in advance guys... I'm hoping at least one of you will by my guardian technology angel.

Hit the main companies, and look for the Clearance button.

What you should really consider doing is buying some laptop that will just get you by in speed and performance terms and then go buy an extra battery pack. Buy something very very light but good memory so when you add on he battery pack, it won't be too heavy. I really have no referals. I would say Dell but their small laptops are the most expensive.

There are some small dealers out there that are selling a model by Compal. Everyone has there own model number for it but most end it with a 51. It has a Centrino processor and most run around 256-512 ram but you can add as much as you like. That laptop will give you a good running time on one battery. Also it uses a mild graphics card with 64megs of shared ram. Should run your more mild games just fine but I'm not sure about the WC3. As far as price I have seen them from 1150-1600. We sell the basic unit for 1199. I hope this helps!
