185A5 for parts?? or need help with

Hi,

I got a 185A5 from a friend, that doesn't work correctly. It didn't have a power adapter, or a battery at first, so I bought a power adapter(quite pricey....)

Anyways, the unit turns on, but no video on the screen. There's no OS on the HD, so I used a Knoppix 3.3 Live CD to boot with the external VGA port hooked up to my CRT. Everything works, even got the wifi, except for that lcd image. The lcd powers on, but then shows a faint white line at the bottom of the screen. Anybody have a clue what this is in regards too? Nothing in the BIOS regarding the LCD either...

My guess is that your backlight for the LCD is out. Either that or your whole LCD is out. If you do not want it, I will be happy to buy it.

I guess I'm just stuck with a slim aluminum PC!

Got the same problem. I think it's screen power inverter. I am in the testing right now. Looking for a replacement at the same time. Will keep you posted.
