i know this has nothing to do with spyware but...

whenever i try to use ctrl+alt+del. it automatically closes before i can use it.. or whenever i try to run "Regedit" in run, it does the same thing, or if i try to run "msconfig" in run, it again immediately closes before i can touch it.

sometimes it closes so fast i cant even see it.

generally, i cant click the program or anything.... its like if i press ctrl+alt+del the window like blinks and is gone.

i thought it was a result of my pop-up blocker, but i turned it off and problem still persists.

i cant tell if its the result of another program, because i cant run msconfig and see the programs that run at startup.

please, please, please help :(

sounds like a software (OS) issue, not a hardware issue. can you run any applications?

yeah computer runs fine..

i can do all the usual stuff like aim, word, winamp, etc.

but things like (msconfig, regedit) through run or the ctrl+alt+del box automatically close after i open them.

SOUNDS LIKE HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE PROTOCALS MESSING UP...time TO RELOAD.

If its a dell, compact, hp, this can be HARD.
check video drivers, and you may go back 1 version... Its poping it up, but then it goes invisable.

Try CTRL-alt-del, 2 times, should shut system down... IF not then there is some major probs...I would run the bot programs and anti virus tho...

hitting ctrl+alt+del two times to shutdown the system only works on windows 98 and ME. It does not work on NT based systems, like w2k and xp.

Sounds like something is corrupted. When did you start noticing it? did it start happening after installing any particular application? Have you done a virus check?

If you can remember when it started happening, do a system restore to a point before it started happening and see what happens.

Either that, OR.
Did you install DirectX9??? And with which video card??

Looks like it's spyware called Virtual Bouncer, but it's more vicious then spyware. It actually is a type of "extortion ware". This is a really really nasty bugger.

1) it claims to be adware remover

It drive-by installs, phones home after install, gives itself the right (in the EULA) to download and install software from its servers, and you have to *pay them* for a "subscription" with a credit card to have it removed, then opt out of having the "subscription" automatically renewed.

Because you must pay to have to removed, some have dubbed this "extorion ware".

You can somtimes remove it via add/remove.
You can also try to uninstall via:
http://www.spywarelabs.com/VirtualBouncerUninstall.exe

Some tools that supposedly can clean it:
AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.com)
SpyBot (http://www.safer-networking.org/)
X-Cleaner (http://www.xblock.com/)
RegBlock (http://www.regblock.com/)

My sister's BF described the same thing that was happening to you (couldn't open task manager or run) He said everytime he did, he could see that the dialog was named "Virtual Bouncer".

Can you see the window name for task man before it closes? Try doing a search in your registry for virtual bouncer.

Sooperboy - I recall that a similar thing happened to me and a friend of mine. We both had the same program installed and when we uninstalled it, the problem went away. I ^think^ the program was Ulead Mediastudio Pro but I'm not positive.

Do you have that installed? Did you notice this happening after installing a new program?

my problem must (right?) be the result of some program, but i dont know when it started happening :(

i can function alright even though the problem persists.. it just kinda sucks heh.

See if you can get Spybot, spyblaster and Adaware to check your system...

Still wish for Ram size, HD size and used amount, and Vid card size...and what rez you are running.

Try a program like Tune-Up Utilities
http://www.snapfiles.com/features/tuneuputils-801-439920.php

I use this program and its great for cleaning out my system and fixing errors.

after disabling those last 6 programs from startup, i've finally solved the problem.

i can now succesfully complete ctrl+alt+del.

now to find out how i got those gay programs and how to uninstall them... (which i'm probably too lazy to do)

how problem was fixed: TuneUp Utilities was key in that it enabled me to disable certain programs at StartUp which without it, dont even show up in MSCONFIG.

I wouldnt have even been able to see the program that was causing me problems without the Utility.

anyways, thanks for all the help.

NOW, do a search on your system to see where they are installed....
the DIDR is generally the name of the program that put them there.
Erase them if you wish.

AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.com)
SpyBot (http://www.safer-networking.org/)
X-Cleaner (http://www.xblock.com/)
RegBlock (http://www.regblock.com/)

RegBlock will not only clean it, you can opt to "inoculate" your PC so you'll never get any of this trojan-dialer crap.
Got mine a year ago, went specifically to visit porno sites, because I did not quite believe what the company said - but it's true. Here is where you can get RegBlock for 18 bucks if you decide you need it.
