I'm just about past the beginners stage in computer technology but I recently tried to "learn by practice" by trying to rebuild my old computer.

I've managed to get everything together and it seems to be working OK. However, at boot up, although the computer recognises the correct primary master HD, primary slave HD, secondary master (my main CD-RW) and secondary slave (CD-R) when I get into Windows neither CD drives appear in MY COMPUTER, or indeed, anywhere else.

I've checked everything (within my limited knowledge) but can't find a reason for the problem.

ANY advice or help would be very much appreciated because I'm getting so frustrated that I'm considering dumping the darn thing in the rubbish tip!
