This looks like a movie everyone can enjoy. She can go to watch Brad Pitt jumping around in Leather while you get to sit back and take in some good action sequences.
Movie opens today! If you go see it let us know what you thought of it and how it compares to other movies in its genre like Gladiator and Braveheart.
Here are some links for you.

According to studio estimates issued on Sunday, "Troy" opened at No. 1, as expected, with weekend ticket sales of $45.6 million. However, Warner Bros.' $200 million adaptation of Homer's "The Iliad," starring Brad Pitt in a miniskirt as Achilles, fell short of the $50 million viewed informally in Hollywood as the passing grade for a summer popcorn movie.
The previous weekend's champion, "Van Helsing," slipped to No. 2 with a three-day haul of $20.1 million, a hefty 61 percent slide from its $51.8 million bow. Big movies generally lose about half their audience in the second weekend. The 10-day total for Universal Pictures' $170 million monster thriller stands at $84.5 million, far short of the $100 million that the studio had hoped to reach by this time.
Both movies will soon get swamped, with the animated sequel "Shrek 2" getting an early start on next weekend by opening on Wednesday. The following weekend, the U.S. Memorial Day holiday, will see the disaster picture "The Day After Tomorrow" enter theaters along with the urban comedy "Soul Plane."

Yep..>Shrek 2 is on its way out. It looks pretty funny though, I actually enjoyed the first one. Probably going to see that sometime this week...
But Troy was still a great movie :)
Walking out of the theaters, I overheard a lot of conversations about the location of Troy as well as Homer and various Myths. Pretty cool

I saw Troy this weekend. I gave it a C to C+ in grade. I thought it could have been a lot better. It certainly could not compare to Gladiator. I felt Troy was too influenced by Hollywood. There were some pretty dumb lines in the movie "It is too early in the morning for killing princes" and the realism wasn't really there. Notice how clean the building were, nothing was worn down, there was no garbage in the streets and no dogs running around. The whole setting looked out of place, like a Hollywood set or something. Just my opnion.

I hope to see it on Friday since I was camping all weekend and its not likely I will go during the week. It will be a hard toss up between this and Shrek. Harry Potter 3 opens in a couple of weeks...

camping woo hooo!!! any scary stories? :)
Actually ONE thing I didn't like about Troy is that they really didn't explain how is is not able to have a "mortal wound" except for that one specific place (u should know where this is). They should have explained how he was dipped in the River of Styx and what not. Oh well

I liked it. It wasn’t great but at least it wasn’t a Bruckheimer explosions flick. This movie makes me want to go read the Iliad so I can see how off they are from Homer’s material. Eric Bana was a motherfudgin’ badass! So was Brad Pitt. I enjoyed how Achilles pissed off Agamemnon every chance he got. It was cool how they made the Mermidans (sp?) like the Navy SEALS or Army Rangers of the Greek army. You know what made my day? It was when Legol—I mean Paris busted out with the bow and arrows and started picking off Greeks one by one. I give Troy 831 out of 957 waxy Q-tips.

hm..waxy q-tips. not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing lol!
But I agree, the role of the Mermidans was cool and how Agamemnon completely despised Achilles was hilarious too :)

Myrmidons ..
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/m/myrmidons.html
Aeacus, king of Aegina and son of Zeus, had no citizens in his kingdom. He prayed to Zeus as he looked at an ant hill, "Please remember that I am your son, and was made a king of your sacred island that you created to honor my mother Aegina. When Sisyphus told a river god that you had eloped with her, you turned her into an island. Please Father Zeus, send me citizens to populate your island and make them skilled in warfare so this island will be protected!"
Then Aeacus went back to his palace. Soon his son Telamon yelled, "Father, Father! There are many people outside looking for you!" The people were called the Mymirdons after ants or myrmi. Achilles took 50 ships with 50 Mymirdons each to the Trojan War.
The story of the Myrmidons, as told by Thomas Bulfinch.

That’s an interesting observation. But Gladiator is a fictional story that takes place in a real historic period in time whereas Troy is a realistic retelling of a fictional Greek myth. The kingdom of Troy is supposed to be the most beautiful and grand place in all of Greece. I don’t picture the buildings being worn down and dilapidated, nor do I picture stray dogs running around. Let’s not forget about what TecknoGeek posted about Achilles and the Myrmidons. Achilles is half-god and Zeus created the Myrmidons. I think the sensational portrayal of Troy was fitting. I would have loved to have seen more of the supernatural elements from Homer's epic implemented even more.
