Hey guys, I am loving my hdd120....I just have one little thing. I have a minor scratch on the front of the black part of the player...Its rather annoying and really bugs me...Im pretty sure there is nothing to do about it. I could get a brand-new player from bestbuy since I got tehir special warrenty, but I dont really want to do that....So, is there anyway you guys know of how to hide/get rid of these annoying scratches?....Its pathetic that I care so much about a tiny scratch.:)

its funny you should ask.
The most common way is a wax filler.
Grab a crayon about the same color, or almost clear, adn rub it on, brush off the excess and away you go.
This is what the current cars are doing.
And the CD pastic fillers/scratch removers. Just dont wipe it with to much alcohol, and it should be fine..

The wax filler is what I have always used on my cars like ECA suggests. Turtle Wax makes one probably in the color you need too. It looks like a lip stick tube.

I doubt Best Buy would cover it under warranty. They would probably tell you that it was caused by you and therfore its not covered. Unless you can find something else wrong with it that could not be caused by physical damage. ;)

No, bestbuy would cover it because they have a no hassle warrenty....I just say something is worng with the player and poof they go off a get me a brand new player; however, im not going to do that....

Il try to go get these turtle wax crayons....Never thought of it, thanks a lot....Going to be an interesting experiment :)

Other thing to think about...
Your product WORKS.
one little scratch isnt enought to change it over.
A new one may NOT work as well.

Yah, that was what I was saying...I have the option and I could go do it, but I do not really think it is worth it. You are right, my product works and still looks awesome...Still going to try the turtlewax color cure stuff later today and Ill report back....

Sounds like your Best Buy is better than mine. My salesman told me the same thing when selling me the warranty, but once I had a problem they would not cover it if it was accidental on my part.

Try this...
Use a Clear wax from a candle, Warm it, NOT MELT.
Srub it back and forth to FILL the crack, mostly.
Find a Cryon, the color you wish. color the wax, Go against the crack direction.
BUFF, off the surrounging area, and try not to touch the wax area.
A FLAT color is better then Gloss.

Scratches on the black parts of the Philips case can be removed or greatly reduced by using 3M scratch and swirl mark remover or equivalent product. You can find it at car paint and body shop suppliers or at Walmart. I used it on my HDD100 to remove a deep scratch on the front. Use about a dimes worth on a small piece of terry cloth. Rub it back and forth like hell, it will take time. The Philips case is a black polycarbonite material and you will notice the black forming on the cloth from the polishing. Buff brishly with a clean 100% cotton towel. If any residue forms around the control buttons or other places, use a detail brush to remove. In fact, polish the front and back of your Philips player. I've done this and it works.

maybe it can never be perfect. one time i had a new digital camera and i was examining a small nick that it came out of the box with and i dropped it on asphalt and got it all scratched up. it frusrates me up to this day. even though i bought a new one later because it quit working.

the 3M stuff works really well though.

:doh

nail polish...
Layer it in 1 coat at a time. It will fill up and be sloid, and shouldnt come out.
BE-aware if there is a seam that opens, it will LOCK it closed, like GLUE.
