Ugh, actually posting on DT for help. How desparate can I get! hahaha
I had a NASTY reinfecting virus which i finally got rid of. BUT, now it appears my onboard NIC will not initialize properly. Windows shows it as disconnected, then tries again, and shows it again disconnected. The cycle repeats indefinitely.
I tried reinstalling the drivers, uninstalling the drivers, updating the drivers, lspfix, winsock fixes, and norton (along with HJT, SB S&D, AA) and nothing.
My guess is that it is a windows componenet that is now out of whack, that's keeping the NIC from properly being initialized.
Any ideas at all? I'd hate to reinstall windows after i got this close!
thnx
ps-and yes, I checked my megahertz for free! hehe

Try doing a system restore from before the virus got you, like a week ago. That is what I would try at this point.
Then,
Dont let windows search for it. Cancel out, untell windows comes up.
Search and look around your system, as PART of the drivers is STILL installed.
REMOVE them, look into windows and make sure the networking is setup, or RESET UP.
Install drivers, may have to re-init the card(pul it out start windows without it, then reinstall it) windows isnt stable, removing card can make it stable and find other things not Properly configged.
After its stable re-install the card, and install drivers..
Another thought, if the Mobo has drivers, they MAY be out of wack. Something messed them up. After Net card is pulled or turned OFF...check them. Windows may not config the card as the mobo drivers are wacked.

Hehe. System restore... um, how do I go back so I can remember to turn that on? (never turned it on)
The NIC is onboard, so no pulling it. I completely removed all netowrk adapter drivers, restarted and let windows detect them, then chose the right ones (downloaded from Abit's website), still no go. Even used a couple programs that fixed any LSP stack progblems and reset all tcp/ip config settings. Still nothing.... ugh!
Umm.
Did you think about Turning IT OFF, in the bios???

Wow really sounds like you have yourself a doozy. It almost seems like a it tapped into your NIC's firmware or something. Format and reinstall?
And turn System Restore on, it has saved my butt several times.
yep,
sorry to say, I cant config it from here...
Something bumped BAD in your system..
AND YES, the best thing MS did was the sys restore.

Ugh I want to cry! *waaa!*
One last attempt...
Does anyone ahve files named bridge.dll or jao.dll anywhere in the their system? If so, where? I remember Norton deleting these and I have to wonder if it is part of the problem....
nope.
one looks like the Bridge from PCI to AGP...which is mobo.
Other not sure of...
