I know nothing about laptops plz help!

Hi,
I have roughly a couple of weeks to find a laptop that will suit my needs, before i go off to do accounting at uni. Problem is I am pretty clueless about laptops and dont know where to begin looking... maybe you could help me out?

-Im prepared to spend about £1500 on a laptop (although less would be good obviously)
-It will be used for a variety of tasks, aside from word processing and spreadsheets etc, including watching DVDs, playing mp3s and the ability to handle decent games would be a nice extra, although not necessary.
-It needs to have a network card to connect to the uni internet (i dont know if this is included in laptops or not... my pc didnt come with one)
-A good-sized screen would be nice for watching DVDs
-Preferably more than 2 USB ports
-Weight is not an issue
-Hopefully the battery will last more than just a few hours.

If anyone can recommend anything at all that fits the above i would be very very grateful,

1. Laptops arent the best for games..
2. Find out WHICH network the Uni is using..Wireless(which), wired (which). You are looking at about 10 alternatives.
3. P4 Laptops SUCK batteries...
4. access to POWER during class/talks what ever is ALWAYS best. The more features you use, the more power used, and LESS battery life.
5. Security...Find a GOOD safe.. Ok, NEVER tell others you have a GOOD laptop. Its a piece of crap, it sucks, wont do what you want...So on. there is also a NEET prog out there, CAN NOT BE ERASED(EASILY) that when hooked to the net, sends YOUR account the location it is AT. Biggest Loack you can find on it, EVEn if to remove it(with out key) will Damage comp. Looseing a laptop is WORSE then looseing a mainframe.
6. ALWAYS backup 3 ways...On comp, On HARD COPY(printed), and ON CD...STORE away from each other. All 3 in one place, and a fire will Wipe you out. this way, if you loose 1 copy, or even 2 copies, there IS a third.
7. top out the RAM, and always get the better HD(NOT always BIGGER)...

Sager makes laptops for alot of other companies to put there BRAND on...look them up.

Another suggestion, is to grab an OLD time tape recorder mic, there great, and you can record the teacher onto the Laptop.

Sager actually does not make them, and does not sell them to other companies, sager is just one more company that is using laptops made by a company in taiwan called Clevo
