My speakers had been generating a lot of static, especially when the volume was turned up, and recently they burst. I bought new speakers thinking it would fix the problem, and it did slightly, but the sound is still rather prominent. Especially when running DVDs! I can even hear the buzzing of the cd spinning and from when I move the mouse. I don't know if it acutally is the DVD drive, or if its my on board integrated sound chip, or if its something with the motherboard. I have no idea what to do short of replacing the whole system. Thanks for your time.

What kind of speakers do you have? It could either be your soundcard/computer or you may have the speakers too close to the wall and they are picking up electrical interference from within the wall. They could also be too close to your computer monitor. Try moving them around to see if that helps.

I had a basic set of altec lansing 2.1 speakers that burst, don't know if its related to this or not. I just bought the logitech z3 set. The speakers are above the monitor on a shelf as well as the subwoofer, all of which are spaced well apart. They aren't too close to the wall either...

From what, your computer???

OK,
1. Check the conection, with headphones.
2. whats your AUDIO CARD?
3. move them AROUND, whats within 6 feet of them, on other side of wall?

A friend of mine had a set of high powred speakers that would pick up the spanish radio staion's broadcast durring a quiet part of songs/movies. It got rather annoying untill he relocated the entire setup to annother room. That was the only soultion that worked for him. good luck

You've probably got a problem thats called a ground loop. If your speaker plug is non-polarized or has a 3 to 2 prong adapter, try flipping it 180º and plugging it back in.

3 prong plug???

I can see reverseing the poles, but there AINT many systems that USE that format..
AND if they DO, then the person BETTER know what they are doing..
