AGREE.

But I bought a CHEAP speaker system and the center is 2x louder the the other speakers... Its strange...
Im working on better speakers.

Thanks for the Quad mention... LOVED that format.

maybe i'm way off here, but wouldn't the real solution to the problem discussed in the article be using a better amp?

for a few years i was upgrading my digital receiver every major tech generation until i came across cayin.

a quality (doesn't mean expensive) vaccuum tube amp will bring your music to life in ways your digital equipment never can.

i have a cayin mt-35 with a cayin cd15a (http://gallery.attack11.com/cayin/mt35-cd15a.jpg) and i doubt i'll ever upgrade or sell these 2 components. digital audio cannot compare to analog, and the fullness of the sound from a "normal" cd just trounces dlp2/sacd/dvda, while an hdcd (tool's lateralus or spiritualized' let it out) sound completely immersive.

I have heard the same thing about tube amps as well. But for a center channel (in home theater/movie setup) how well do they work?

well that's the thing, my 2.0 music system (in the picture) sounds fuller than my 6.1 with dvda.

it's impossible to describe, but instantly recognizable when you walk into the music.

an interesting thing to note, cayin is offering a 5.1 tube amp (http://www.sparkaudio.com/ecp02.asp?id=56). i've never heard one, i doubt i could even get my hands on one... but if i ever have the chance i'm grabbing one.

cayin tube gear sells at 1/2 it's value compared to other brands, i only know of 1 dealer in ontario (canada) and it's just up the street from me. without those guys my music would be sounding very hollow.

Interesting. And what are you using for the rest of your system? I am going to add a 2.0 system to my living room, maybe I will go with a tube amp with this system since it will be playing strictly music.

i have a paradigm monitor 6.1 speaker set (in an apt) with a velodyne sub; my digital amp is a marantz sr7400; other misc things are my dvd player, audio authority component switch for my consoles. it's a pretty standard setup i'd think for the amount of toys being switched/routed.

90% of the time my cayin gear is hooked up to my speakers. i only turn on the marantz for (5.1) movies or games. 2.0 dvd's go through my xbox which is the 2nd input on my mt35. even mp3s @ 128kb sound better thru the cayin than cdda thru the marantz.
