I think that it would be a good idea and is one of the things that I was talking to TechnoGeek about. Will it be just a single forum of a Car audio catagory with several sub topics to it? With the sub topics there can be sections regarding installation, new components, problems, subs and equilzers, ect. If you want to take it one step further you can even add car electronics(stand alone gps, dvd/video, sat. dishes) as well

I am open to ideas, what type of subforums do you think we should have?
See if you can find some car audio sites and see how they have it broken up.

The two that stick out in my mind along with aquick breakdon of the one are
http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/index.php
general
installation
technical
competition
video/multimedia
used/for sale
http://pub26.ezboard.com/bcaraudioforum87927
I think some suggestions of sub-catagories are
installation
technical
competition(possibality)
amps
subs
capacitors(but can fall into tech.)
looks(boxes, clean wiring, lights, ect.)
And a bunch of Nuds, asking Q: that is more common sence then Anything??
PPL wondering WHY a "0" guage wire is better then 18...
Or some person thats run 24 guage wire to his speakers and WONDERS why it dont work?
I'd at least put a section for WHAT TOOLS they should have and BE using... Before they EVEN post.
ALSO a warning, that IF THEY, switch the '+' and '-' poles IT AINT YOUR FAULT, that it DONT WORK, and there getting funny smells.
At least with comps, If they're brave enough toOPEN the case, there stupid enough to Plug a card in.(even with the power OFF)
Are you brave enough to give instruction to others that CANT figure that AC, AINT DC.?? And blowing the electrics in a car, (hopefully) means that you blew a fuse.
Unless the Arse bypassed the whole circut and went direct to the battery with no fuses...
How about balancing the speaker voltage so you DONT blow the speakers??
Watts dont mean VOLUME?
PMS, Peak, and so forth???
This is more hair raising(wish I could, Im bald) then trying to Talk to someone in the forums about installing a NEW modem.

If anything I think that before the new forum is created that a small test site should be created and based on that experiance if it proves to be worth it then merge in the posts to the main forums. One forum is easier to kill if it becomes a problem then an entire catagory.

ECA;
The lack of braim matter is always a problem no matter which forum/site that you go to with the execption of having to take an IQ test before you can ever register for it. One can only hope that we will not be having to resort to such a measure to use this site but it can come to that time. You have to remember that what is common sence to us is not universal. That is why forums are created and also why your sig reads how it does. A FAQ/Read me first before posting file would be a good idea. I see this file as having basic information such as why bigger wire is better then smaller wire for poere but why not to use 0 guage to your speakers, propper grounding techniques and any other items that we can for see as being repetitive questions that will be damn annoying to read.
Im, sorry...
But is the same problems with different medium.
And I know the nost pop Q: will come to....How do you turn it ON??
I know a fair amount of whats going on, but to understand EACH unit, is abit beyond me...
Its like those that ASK, "can you teach me the computer"... What is there to teach? Hardware, software, bios.. Hardware is easy(anymore), Software is basics, bios is fun(and NOT to be played with)..
I can get into the amplifiers and the speakers but the units them selves, can confuse a space tech. give me a mobo and cards, with driver and away I go.
Yes, I do suggest a NOTE before they EVEN enter the forum. Do's and DoNTS...

A FAQ would be easy to do sine most of the work is already done over at
http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/forumdisplay.php?f=25
I figure if we go through it, clarafy it, and flesh it out some in needed areas it would well. It would be a simple read it, take the points and see where the problems are so that we are ahead of the game. We can also put a comments section for just the FAQ based on what we things needs to be removed/added to it.

yes I think we should add a car audio section.. I don't think we should add too many sub catagories rather start general and then add them as we get more people .. don't get too detailed like PIONEEER > AMP > 1996 > GRAY .. or whatever even breaking it down by manufacurer might be too much...
I guess I could add one later today...

If you want I can start to work on a FAQ file and email it out to you guys. This way we can get a preview of what kinds of questions we might be facing

I am going to stick it under Audio and Video instead of making its own section .. It will have subcatagories as you flipp suggests..

Did someone close the entire car audio section? I had to login to the admin and unlock it. Please send me an email or something if you are going to mess with it. Thanks
