Hi all, I've been looking for an HDD100 forum and this seems to be the most active so I'll post here. I just recieved my HDD100, and I'm very impressed by its looks and everything, but I have transferred my songs, and have just tested it a few times, it probably hasn't been playing for more than half an hour, and its already frozen about 6 times! This is crazy! I am using firmware version 4.0 as I hear the newest firmware has a lot of problems. Which firmware is the best for not freezing? Is this amount of freezing normal? Someone help please!!

Hi Mancomb, First firmware version 4.0 is terrible and unstable. I don't care what anybody says here that uses it over 6.6. Ver 6.6 gives the HDD100/120 players so much more stability. But I also must say that freezing of the player is more an issue of invalid or missing ID3 tags in your mp3 files than the firmware. The Philips player as well as many others rely heavily on id3 tags to provide the menu listings of 'artist', 'albums' and 'genre'. from the internal index. Whenever some are missing or have strange foreign language characters, the Phillips will freeze. So...get yourself a good MP3 tag editor and make sure all your songs have the 'artist', 'albums', song name", 'track #' and 'genre' filled in..no blanks. A great free tag editor is MP3Tag at..www.mp3tag.de
Get the new 6.6 firmware and fix all your id3 tags and reload. I'll bet your freezing will stop. My HDD100 player never freezes! I have given this advice to others with this problem and they are happy now.

The brief pausing issue with firmware 6.6 is still an issue.

Thanks a lot for the reply, It's true that most of my mp3s dont have complete ID3 tags, so I'll definately try that, and I'll upgrade to 6.6. Thanks again.
