Hi,
I bought a HDD070 today and the little bugger just won't work for me.

I plug it in, turn it on and connect it to the pc and DMM starts up automatically but then all I get is "Player not connected". I've tried Musicmatch and Media Player and get the same thing. If I try to access it through Windows Explorer I get "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable".

If I don't turn the HDD on before connecting it the pc doesn't recognise the fact that it's there at all.

Can anyone help me or is the thing just screwed and I'll have to bring it back?

Thanks

My advice: bring it back and get a Rio Carbon. You will be much happier.

Stupid Questions, BUT...

It's Windows XP Home edition.

It came with DMM 3.0 which is the most recent version I can find on their site. I can't find anything to do with drivers on the site at all and looked up a couple of driver sites and didn't find anything there either.

:) Please try to fomat you harddisk then reconnect to your PC and re-run the DMM to re-build the HDD070 system file..... I think that your HDD will re-work again.

ALSO,
Please run Spybot, spyblaster and a Good Virus Software...
Keep your system clean, dont run stuff, NOT needed at startup. Im programs dont need to start until you are on the net.
these background programs bump around in memory and Waste it, and can cause problems sometimes, esp if you dont have LOTS of ram.

I couldn't format it because the pc can't read the thing at all.

But I brought it back, got a new one, and it works fine!

Just ever so sligthly weed off I spent hours over the weekend trying to get a busted one to work, one I think had already been returned before I got it...

Thanks for the help anyway everyone!
