Hello. I am having some problems with graphic glitches on my PC. My system is a:
Athlon 2800
1gb pc3200(512x2) kingston running at dual channel
A7n8x-e
MSI Radeon 9800 pro
160gb SATA hitachi
CDR-RW/DVD Sony
ThermalTake Volcano 12
There is a picture attached to this thread that shows an example of what the glitches look like. They get worse that what is shown in the this picture.
I reformatted the hard disk, reinstalled all the software, and downloaded the latest driver for my video card but the problem continues in all my games.
Could this be BIOS related? I would appreciate any help or advise that you can give to solve this annoying problem.
Thanks

1. MOVE ANYTHING AWAY from the monitor, EVERYTHING Magnetic, motorized, heat generating, to at LEAST 16 inches AWAY....AND nothing NEAR the Video cable EITHER.
2. Sence I can LOOK into your machine, I would ALSO suggest that you move ALL cards at LEAST 1 slot away.. And where does RAM and CPU come CLOSe to the card? DONT want them touching it, dont want ANY cable touching it.
3. grab a FRIENDS monitor...Hook it up and test that....

Nothing magnetic is by the monitor. I've tried a tv and a monitor already so I don't thing that can be the problem.
Seems like there's no problem with cables and cards... do you think it may be codec-related or bios?? The weird thing is that at the beginning it used to run great, but eventually the glitches started appearing. Anymore ideas? THANKS

Could definitely be the card, hardware defect or some sort. Are you overclocking? Case too hot?
i had serious issues with my video card when i threw my new computer together. turned out it was the power supply. I replaced the powersupply and everything was geeky. you got an extra, powerful powersupply handy to try?
monitor, and TV are different...They both use ram, but different locations, and Resoulutions. It would be REAL different between them.
Cant be BIOS, it has NOTHING to do with card, excapt handling in hardware. If bios was going bad, the WHOLE system would suffer.
Its as little as a cable modem being placed to CLOSE...A small transformer...
As big as A NEW MONITOR...
As simple as a new video card.
We just need to test things, FIRST...TRY another monitor... Or take YOUR monitor to another computer.

I tried another monitor and problem continues. I'll try moving some stuff around on thet motherboard to see if that makes a difference.
No I am not overclocking (yet). My computer case seems to be well ventilated so I doubt its the heat. Although I DO have a 300 watt power supply- but earlier on when I built the computer is worked fine for the longest time. So I can't see how it's the heat.
Sure hope it's not my Radeon 9800 pro that's causing problems. Do yuo think that it could be codec or directx related? If it is, where on the internet can I find the best pack to download?
Thanks and appreciate the help

You need a better powersupply. A 300 watt isn't strong enough. I'd bet cautiously that it's the problem. Did this just start happening when you put in the new graphics card? I doubt it's the other cards. If you have another, lower powered graphics card to try, throw that in and see if you get the same problem.
Like I said, I had a low end nvidia that was fine w/ my power supply, then I threw in a higher end card and started getting artifacts and beeps when I went into games. I replaced the power supply and all was fixed. Those high end video cards suck a lot of juice.
And,
HOW big is your case.. How close is the PS to the card??
YES, ANY system with the NEW cards, and CPU over 2.5ghz SHOULD have a 400+ PS.

Appreciate all the help guys. Yeah I'll look into finding another smaller video card that I can test with. And see if I can get a hold on a 400+ powersupply.
About the question how big is my case... well.. here's a picture.
What do you think?

Looks decent and lots of space
