Bought a hdd 060 from London. Was very happy for the past 5 months i have used it but now it has stopped functioning.
All i can see on the hdd 060 screen is philips & it doesent go beyond that to the menu. When i connect it to the computer through the USB & put on DMM it will show the usb icon on the screen and thats all. On the dmm software it says player not connected.
When i go to the windows explorer it shows the disk as empty. Cant format it cant do anything. Pls hellllp.
I will be grateful if anyone of u will be able to help me out.
Many thanks
Aman

why don't you try the reset function, the hdd060 should have one too.

The reason there are no files found or seen by Windows, do you have the option of show all hidden files, the file on the player are hidden, Secondly the rest function is Vol+ and arrow up key for 3 to 5 seconds and this is the reset function when the device is switched on.

Thanx fredrik, Peter. I have tried resetting the player but it doesent resolve the problem. Also i have activated the show all hidden files on my windoes.
I also forgot to mention that after a while on my player screen i get an explanation mark ! , which indicates file system error.
I have checked the philips website which suggests connecting the player to the computer and activatin DMM which should recreate the database, but it DOESENT WORK.

amansaluja, Has the player been dropped or knocked. If there is no connection and the ! mark it could be that the drive inside has been damaged, it is a sensitive part of the player and all the disk drive players are the same.
When you disconnected the player from the PC do you always 'safely disconnect' If not this can damage the player. The long and short of it is you need to go back to the store where you got it from.

Suggetion: Do a format of the disk (Fat32), place back the firmware file and then relaod your MP3 tracks.
Format will disable bad spots on the disk.

When you turn on the player put it to your ear, if you can hear the disk spin up on starting then the operating system may need to be replaced (at the shop) if yo don't hear anything then it may the disk itself and then also the player will have to go back to the shop or sent back under warranty.

yes i can hear the sound when it is turned on. I guess the OS needs to be reloaded. Is there a way i can reload it myself. I bought this player in Uk but now I am in India and they dont have the service centre for the player here. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

If you can't connect to the PC then the on board OS is up the creek and it needs to be fixed by the service center. If you have the box then sent it to the address on the Warranty paper.

To load the OS you need to send it to a service center, it is not possible to do it yourself.
