I upgraded the firmware on my Linksys WAP54G (wireless access point) from version 1.08 to 2.07, which promptly screwed my access point.

The issue: The router and the access point can't see each other. If I take a wireless comp and give it a static IP, I can connect to the wap's web interface and configure it, but no connection to the outside world. :(

I tried everything I could think of (power cycle both wap and router, restore factory defaults on both, try different cables, tried to downgrade the firmware but that process is blocked by linksys, changing subnet range) but nothing worked. I gave up and called Linksys tech support, and spent about an hour and half on the phone with them, trying eveything that I had already tried.

At the end of the call, they told me I would have to RMA the access point. This sucks. I've never had anything fail from a firmware upgrade. I know they can happen if you are unlucky enough to have a power failure during the middle of the upgrade, but this didnt happen to me.

Luckily my brother came and wired the important rooms in my house so I dont need to depend on the wireless as much except for my laptop.

Anyone else have this access point and upgrade to the 2.07 firmware successfully? If you have not upgraded, I would recommend not doing it. I read another forum on the net were people were posting all over about the same failures.
