Whatever you do stay as far away from Gateway as you pssibly can. I bought a new laptop recently that had been previously sold to another buyer. Whether it was a used unit sold as new is a question they refuse to answer. On top of that they refuse to pay on the rebate that was offered. They claim that the rebates they offer are not their responsibility and will push you off to a rebate center...that in turn sends you back to Gateway. If you think youre getting a rebate with Gateway think again. If youre lucky to get a customer service rep on the phone they usually do their best to kick the can down the road and blow you off. I have emails from several different reps all answering the question with a different answer...and then passing the buck.

Stay away from Gateway

Glad to see you finally made your post here. Please stop posting this in the other forums though.

I have to ask, is Gateway's tech support in India? I had a similar incident with a rebate and Netgear last year.

My sister bought a camera from there and it broke so they took 2 months to replace it funny thing is they sent her 2 new camera's she ended up making 400 bucks on ebay off of it

Um, so you're complaining you knowlingly got second hand merchandise and you're mad about a rebate? I'd be happy if the damn thing worked. Rebates not getting fulfilled is a fact of life. All of them have some type of escape clause that says the rebate is at the whim of the rebator. For any rebate over $100 - make copies of all the materials sent.

Sorry about your troubles, but I see no reason to avoid Gateway based on your experience (or grammar)
