If you're using the Firefox browser, what are your favorite extensions? I'm using the following:

$ cat Extensions.rdf | grep "em:name"
em:name="Compact Menu"
em:name="Download Statusbar"
em:name="Adblock"
em:name="keyconfig"
em:name="Add Bookmark Here"
em:name="undoclosetab"
em:name="Send To"
em:name="Image Zoom"
em:name="Translate"
em:name="Pinball"
em:name="FLST"

- Compact Menu allows you to remove menus you do not use.
- Download Statusbar puts your download progress on the statusbar instead... you can then disable the popup download window.
- Adblock blocks ads/unwanted content. One of the best extensions around.
- Keyconfig allows you to remap keyboard shortcuts. I use it to change CTRL-W to CTRL-Q to close tabs/windows.
- Add Bookmark Here allows you to add bookmarks exactly where you want them from the Bookmarks menu.
- Undo Close Tab... have you ever mistakenly closed a tab and then jumped through hoops to get the page back? This is for you.
- Send To. You can select text and send it to a file using the context menu (right click). Very handy and beats the hell out of multiple copy/paste.
- Image Zoom. Don't like the size of an image? Right click on it and select the amount of zoom you want.
- Translate. My German is rusty at best. If you're browsing and need to translate something, select the text, right click, select the language you want translated and the Babelfish will translate it for you.
- Pinball. The theme I use.
- FLST. Focus Last Selected Tab. When closing a tab, the browser will bring up the last tab you had up front instead of going in tab order. This should be default in Firefox.

Here's a screenshot of Firefox using the Translate extension.

The rich extension framework is one of the things that makes Firefox so damn cool. Some of the extensions qualify as mini-applications (editors, photo browsers, full featured calendar, etc). Go get some! Tools --> Extensions --> Get More Extensions.

And more that are not on the official site...

Just installed it. Good stuff. I was using SendTo ( http://gorgias.de/mfe/# ) but it looks like Quicknote may work out a bit better. Thanks!

I use some of the ones already mentioned, plus...

WeatherFox (http://weatherfox.mozdev.org/)
Bookmarks Synchronizer (http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/more-info/booksync) - Great for keeping bookmarks sync'd between various machines
Download Manager Tweak (http://dmextension.mozdev.org/index.html)
All In One Gestures (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/marc.boullet/ext/extensions-en.html) - I don't use a lot of the gestures, but some are really handy (ie hold rt-click + left-click = back, hold left-click + rt-click = forward)

How many extensions are out would you say? 100 ... 1000 ... 10000 ?

157 compatible with version 1.0PR just on the official site. With mozdev.org and indie sites added you'd probably see another 50 or so.

I've just added the FlashGet plugin, there's also a BBcode plugin that is supposed to be pretty decent--if you don't want to type out BBcode stuff. I also added a "view page in IE" extension for those instances when pages/applets etc. just don't like Firefox.

Since I'm basically a lazy person, I've started using the Paste Quote extension for Firefox. It's quite nice if you spend a lot of time in forums.

From the author:
Inserts quote tags around the clipboard contents when you right click and "Paste Quote" into any input form - it's only real use however is forums such as this. It's a timesaver for lazy people. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's particularly great if you only want to quote a portion of someone else post.

ForecastFox is an extension that brings international weather from The Weather Chanel to your Firefox Web browser. You can use your US zip code or you can easily find your town or city by using the built in search tool. It is unobtrusive and lightweight, yet can be customized to display nearly as much data as the leading desktop weather programs. If you can't find what you are looking for, double-click the weather icons displayed to open the weather.com forecast for that day. A slider, slimilar to when popup notification for when all downloads complete, pops up from the bottom right corner of your screen when the current conditions are updated. You can even set what appears in it or disable it.

By itself, Firefox is a lean and fast browser (see Firefox 1.0 review), but it lacks some of the functions that we've come to take for granted from Microsoft Internet Explorer. It's easy to remedy that situation with small add-on extensions. Extensions can do loads of tasks, from blocking pop-up ads to playing card games—and even viewing a Web page as if it were in IE—so they can make Firefox a versatile and customizable platform for your browsing activities. But where to start? Which extensions are worth downloading and installing? We evaluated dozens of extensions and present the best 15 for your perusal. It's easy to add them; just go to the Tools | Extensions | Get More Extensions menu to get started.

Good article on PCMAG if you missed it.

for those of you using Adblock extension. If you add the wildcard *ads* to the list than it disables the entire download section on this site because it finds ads at the end of all the links on that page.

Another great Firefox extension (for network geeks) I am now using: ShowIP. It shows the IP address of the current page in the status bar. If you right click on the IP address it gives you options for whois lookups, netcraft search, IPv6 tools, etc.... and it's extensible.

Gonna have to check ShowIP out. Sounds pretty impressive.

The rest of my extentions have already been mentioned, with the exception of 'SearchStatus'. It shows the Google PageRank and Alexa rank of the site being viewed. Very useful for internet marketer/SEO types.
