Toshiba laptop cooling message?

My Toshiba laptop flashed a "shut down" message stating the cooling system wasn't working. Any suggestions?

If you are comfortable opening it up I would do that and then used canned air to get the dust out of there. It could be that the dust has stopped a fan from working. If you are not comfortable opening it, then I would take it to a shop and ask them to look into the problem.

I am assuming this is not a new laptop and you have never seen this message before?
