Hi I had to f disk my hard drive and Load XP home on. This worked fine and everything works ok. However on booting the system stops at an OS choice menu which says windows XP Home or previously installed operating system on C
How do I get rid of this ?
When you select previously installed, it says invalid disc and lloks at the a drive.

Cheers

Did you manage to successfully install Windows XP?

c:\boot.ini is the file you want to edit, but be careful with this. if you screw up the boot option you want to keep, you may find yourself hosed. I'd create a boot floppy/cd and copy the file onto it just in case.

You'll see a section [operating systems]. Normally, there is only one entry under it, and would look like:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

The WINDOWS="...." is the key on how to identify which one is which. Your would have the text "Previously Installed" text there instead of "Microsoft Windows XP Home"
