View Full Version : Posting threads about how to get free ipods, etc will get you banned.
If anyone posts any more threads on how to get a free ipod, pc, etc. by following some referral URL will be banned immediately, no questions asked.
These postings are spam and will not be tolerated.
If you dont know what I'm talking about, then you have nothing to worry about.
This is in reference to things like freeipods.com, and other spam type postings.

Is there an easier way to bann people than logging into the admin area to do it? I couldn't find a way other than that.

Is it possiable to have a script monitor the posts durring the post procces? If so could it be used to automatically ban people when they try to spam the list? It would make it much easier since most of these morrons use a canned "i found a site to get free {item} over {llink}" and not much more then that in the message. If the filters were set to look for a group of known spam messages then this spam removal process could become fully automated while allowing for the admins to undelete messages/unban members who protest and based on human reading of the post in question.

sure you could do that if you felt like wading through the vbulletin php code to write it yourself... maybe there exists such a filter. I haven't looked for one..

No, there is not an easier way of banning people for the moment. I haven't looked for any new mods for the forums in a while. I'll have to do so when i start working on the new theme for the forums.
