I can't seem to burn a workable DVD that will play properly on my home theater DVD player. I can get video, but no audio... unless I play around a bit with the Digital/Analog/Auto detect option, I get choppy audio with it set to Analog, but silence with other things. However, playing the same burned disc (a DVD+R) it plays just fine with my InterVideo app. I'm using Cucusoft to 1)convert the avi to an mpeg/DVD formant 2) another Cucusoft to Author that to the VOB etc files then 3) using Nero to burn and finalize to disc.

I'm trying to copy from a DVD to a blank DVD... just an mpg or avi file to a blank DVD format so it can be watched on my regular entertainment system. Any ideas or better ways to get this done? I didn't think it would be so complicated....

thanks

Hmmm I'm kinda lost on the way you're burning...

Are you basically trying to backup a dvd? As in backing up an exisiting DVD movie on to blank DVD?

I haven't messed around with converting mpg or avi to a blank dvd too much.

But if you're looking for just basic dvd backup I suggest sticking to dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. Good luck :)

I simply have some avi and mpg video files on my computer that I want to burn to dvd,not as a data dvd, but a dvd that can be played on my regular home theater dvd player... it's frustrating me because it's not being as straightforward as I thought it would be.

What is your HOME DVD player, and is it DVD+R compatible??

Philips 793C and I have no idea about dvd+r compatibility

I assumed whether +R or -R once formatted, it wouldn't matter...

It plays video tho, just not the audio yet... I've been thinking it's the software issue at this time.

Guess I'll have to do more hardware research.
