nomad muvo

I just purchased the nomad muvo digital mp3 player and when I installed the device into the usb port I do not automatically get a icon on my desktop of a[ removable storage device] like it says I should get in the installation instructions. If anyone is familar with this player could you tell me what the problem is? Is the icon somewhere else and how do I find out if the computer even detects the device? I have Xp operating system. Thanks.

Did it show another drive under "My computer" at all? Usually it would in a case like this. If the computer detected the device under Windows XP, you should hear a "ding dong" when the device is plugged in and see a green arrow in the taskbar which lets you know you have a removeable device attached to the system.

if you do not see any of these, then most likely your do not have USB turned on in the motherboard bios settings?
