Hey all, i am new to this forum so please to meet u all :)

I recently just got myself a Creative Zen Touch... now i was really happy about its features, sound quality it was really good. But what it has disapointed me, was it needs a nomad explorer to naviagate throught the device on ur computer. So this means i can't use it as an portable hard drive to transfer files to other computer that don't let u install the driver! (e.g. skool)

so... is there any ways to makes it operate on all computers ?? like install the driver on the zen or sumthing?

thanks

No,
Im sorry to say.
Im OLD school.. when a program used to be made, it was MADE for every PC out there..
Didnt matter if it was C64, Vic, 286/386 DOS or windows, APPLE, SUN, Linux, or what ever...
NOW, you may have a hard time getting something DESIGNED for win2000/xp to work on win 95/98/ME It REALLY sucks...

There MAY be an option... Many players, ADD drivers to be used with other units...
Media player, WinAmp, REALPlayer have drivers for other units.

NOW, is there a driver to SEE, your unit as an External device?? If so, you may be able to use it as file holder.. but theres LOTS of programs, and they ALL have different bells and whistles...
I would ask that you hang on, as this IS a long weekend..And some do have families..

Zen, Budha,
there all the same to me...
You have 2 questions here...
1. Can I find a driver for OTHER, none compatible machines.
2. can I use it as a File holder...

Finding a driver is one thing, but being able to take it to another machine, Other then the OS you are using, may not be to easy.

Store Data Files
Included software lets you drag-and-drop data and music files to and from your Creative Zen Touch inside Windows Explorer..

Have you used this software??? theirs...

CANT..

I have NOT seen a universal driver.
To many devices, are configed to many ways..
what would it take for him to DL off there site... OR setup your OWN small site with a password, and the drivers you need. OR setit up inyour EMAIL, and sign on your ISP/Yahoo email/MSN email/GOOGLE email, and download that 1 email..

But that is a driver thats Incorporated, into windows..
does YOURS do that? Of did you need a driver?
If you can VIEW the drive WITH OUT a driver, then you have no problems...
GRAB and DROP..

Nothing wrong with yours, for the Zen you need the software to extract files or copy files from/to the Zen.
Only some mp3 players allow drag/drop without software, like the iRiver.

NOW thats a good reason to have an IRIVER.

Dont need drivers unless the OS is different.. and maybe not even then.

Few.... that way i am asking a way so my zen would work on a computer that does not have a nomad explorer... for example like an Iriver

Odds are, NOT.
Unless someone makes the driver, it WONT happen. and the only group that would have that concern, is CREATIVE. And they made there software/hardware the WAY it is, for there own reason.. they could have done it different, but they didnt.

Oops silly me I didn't realise there was a second page of posts.

One option is to carry a USB key with you with the drivers on it.

I understand what he wants..
But he dont want to carry a Driver disk...Or if he forgets a driver disk, he wants another option..
He hates that windows doesnt SEE his device, with the current drivers under windows.

its one of those portable ram chips, that work threw USB... Windows 2000/xp/MAC will Auto ID it.. They are pretty cool.. and upto 512 megs..

even so, you still have to go through the hassle of installing the program. some computers, such as in schools, don't allow you to install any programs on their computers, aside from the disk usage, applying the registry, time consumption and the multiple shortcuts everywhere.

Draxthor

er... okay.... 1st why would u want to carry a ram chip around ?? doesnt the computer have ram already? and why install the program again if u have it already on teh usb thingy...

( sorry i am new that that thing...)

ECA

Ram chip for a storage device...Store the driver needed... Plugs into USB, to transfer files. No driver needed on win 2000/xp/mac..

NO, windows DONT have the DRIVER... the ZEN isnt refferenced the SAME.

Draxthor

so the usb key thing is like a flash stick? :S

so... there is no way i can transfer files if the other computer dont have a driver... damn... :(

ECA

win 2000/xp/mac already have it built in for the Ram sticks...
BE neet if these players only used RAM sticks...but MOSt do not.

Draxthor
