We have a new review up on the 3ware Escalade 7500-4 in a RAID 5 array comparing it against scores from a ATA100 and ATA133 RAID 0 array. We also show the redundancy features of the 3ware RAID 5 array. Here's a snip:

"The 3ware Escalade series of RAID controllers are the only ones I could find that supported ATA133 drives in a RAID 5 array. They also are offering Serial ATA RAID cards at this time. Why am I so interested in RAID 5? Well, if you are unfamiliar with RAID 5 and didn't check out the Raid Level list earlier, the basics of RAID 5 allow you to have a fault tolerant data structure that still has good performance. Data is distributed about the various drives (at least 3 hard drives are needed for a RAID 5 array) in such a way that if one drive should fail that you can replace it with a new drive and all the info on it that was lost will be rebuilt by the parity files on the other two drives."
