hi
my boyfriend brought me home a blue ipod mini the other day. I had been always asking for him to buy me one, so he did. He gave me this brand new ipod mini to me without any box, headphones, anything. he just gave me the ipod. So I plugged it into my boyfirends ipod charger. nothing happened. I cant seem to do anything with it! So frustrating! AllI see on the screen the whole time is a picture of an apple. wow.
So I decided id just sell it on ebay, since it doesnt work, maybe someone could get it to work or i dont know. Was this the right decision? I probably should have asked here before I put it on ebay. I was just so frustrated. Anyone have any Ideas how I could make it work? i really would like to know ASAP before anyone makes any bids or anything if I can make it work. Because I only listed it for $15 with no reserve.
Was this a mistake?
Id relly appreciate your help.
kinda strange that he would give you one without a box, charger, or any other accessories.. where did he say he got it from? It's not that difficult to use, so if it's not charging or getting past the apple logo, maybe it's hosed. It may need to just be reset too.

Are you using a charger designed for it? It sounds like you are using a charger from a regular iPod?
Maybe call Apple support and see if there is a BIOS flash or something you can do to fix it.

If you don't they will give you a bad score. Will ruin the reputation that user has with the ebay community.

I'd listen to dang and Ioman ... try to get it working ... find the right charger and stuff for it. before you sell it.

yes it is a normal ipod charger, but i wouldnt think there was any diference. The thing is, there is always an apple on the screen no matter what. this must mean there is some power in the ipod.
Im just going to buy a propper one. with a warrenty, with all accessories. no problems.
I dont want to buy a charger for an ipod mini when it wont work, and i dont want a bad reputation.
Now its on eBay with bids I will have to sell it.

The lack of knowledge of dang and ioman is becoming increasingly familiar. If your boyfriend has the standard iPod charger, you can plug the Mini into that charger (because they are the same) and do the following: Press the Hold switch on the Mini (so that the red flash appears on the switch) then switch the hold off again, then press and hold the Menu and the middle 'bellybutton' down simultaneously (typically about 5 seconds, maybe a bit longer) until the Apple display flickers or re-appears. Let us know what happens after that.

I hope you mean in regards to the Apple iPod and thats all...
Why do you have to be so rude with everything?
I don't mind you posting in here helping people. But telling people they are "ignorant" or by implying they are is getting old. We will not tolerate it.

Neato, I dont claim to be an iPod owner/expert/etc. You say I'm ignorant, and I think you read to fast. I mentioned above "It may need to just be reset too.", which is exactly what you are describing her to do. She also said it wasnt charging using an iPod charger, which leads me to think that it's hosed. Key word "think"..
You sure do come off rough on the edges, but to each his own.

hi people,
I had to wonder seeing this thread after I poped to my local store that sold ipod minis..
you said that all thats displayed is the apple logo? - I take it you have NOT managed to turn it off and on ? since u have not said that it powers up ok, so I pusume you ment its just a static screen.. with apple..
the store had loads and loads of mini's with just the apple logo on the screen...
and they where ALL non working display models...
I really really hope that not what your boyfriend gave you... cuase the ebay buyer will be VERY upset..
and a ipod mini will charge from a ipod charger... if its a working model :)
I say its a "dummy" display model :)

hey Shadeygeezer
after reading what u wrote, I think it could be just the display model. Two days ago i broke up with my boyfriend, it could have just been a joke from him, (he is crazy) but anyway I have sold it. and recieved the money into paypal. thismorning i sent it in the mail. I dont know a lot about Electronics so I cant tell if its a display model, or whatever. but if, when the guy gets it, it is a display model, what happens? I said no refunds because I just wanted no hastles. and i specifically wrote IT DOESNT WORK FOR ME.
can he give me a bad reputation? :dunno
I hope he can get it working :dunno

This is pretty funny. It certainly sounds like a display model and I think Aussie16 is probably playing us all. I feel sorry for the person that bought it on eBay. If they paid with Paypal, they can get their money back within 15 days if I remember correctly.

I think Ioman thinks that aussie16 is not who she is saying she is ?
