Synopsis:
A horrible fire burnt down the the Beaudelaire home, and so the Beaudelaire children became the Beaudelaire orphans. The children are taken in by a series of odd relatives and other folk, including Lemony Snicket, who narrates the film, starting with the cunning and dastardly Count Olaf (Jim Carrey), who hopes to snatch their inheritance from them.

This is the story of the Bauedelaires, three young orphans, Violet (Browning), Klaus (Aiken) and Sunny, looking for a new home, who are taken in by a series of odd relatives and other people, including Lemony Snicket, who narrates the film, and starting with the cunning and dastardly Count Olaf (Carrey), who hopes to snatch their inheritance from them. Violet is the oldest of the Baudelaires at 14, and is their brave and fast-thinking leader. The only boy is middle child Klaus, 12, who is intensely intelligent and obsessed with words. The youngest is infant Sunny, who speaks in a language only her siblings can understand, and she has a tendency to... bite.
Release Date: December 17th, 2004 (wide).
MPAA Rating: PG for thematic elements, scary situations and brief language.

My wife an I were actually talking about taking our son to see this movie about 30 minutes ago. I'll let you know what i think when I see it.

Yeah had some friends say they saw it last friday night. Got some mixed reactions....3 or 4 of them said it wasn't nearly as good as it was hyped to be or they expected it to be. the other friend said he loved it lol. So I'll be waiting for this one to come out on DVD or the WB :)

I am not a big Jim Carrey fan so I will pass. He is a hyper-wacko IMO with mediocre acting skills.

I liked the early Jim Carrey...haven't been a big fan over the past years tho :(

This movies is made for teenagers. I don't think these books translated very well to different age groups compared to the Harry Potter series. Plenty of adults read those books and could enjoy the movie more because of it.
