Why is a removable battery important if the standard battery is a lithium ion battery that does not build a memory? Are larger batteries available?

hmmm... I wonder if it takes microdrives... the mp3 abilities would be great if it does...

"The Zaurus has two slots for extended functions. One slot is a Compact Flash slot. This is the slot that is the most versatile. The currently available cards are a Cellular Modem, Digital Camera, Wireless LAN, Ethernet network, and 56k modem card. From our perspective the Zaurus just would not be the same without the ability to use an 802.11 WiFi Compact Flash card.

The second slot is an SD slot. This is used primarily to extend the memory. There are 32, 64, and 128MB cards available. Currently these are the only type of SD card available, but companies like Sychip are in the process of developing an 802.11a wireless solution available in SD form. Very cool."

Sounds like there is no microdrive abilities. Sorry.

But what if you get like the compact flash adapter for the microdrive? It would fit in the slot, but then would it be compatible?

Speaking of the Zaurus, it looks like Sharp is unleashing a new Zaurus, the SL-5600

Do you mean like an external CF adapter that connects using a USB or Firewire port?

I saw this cool external battery on TechTV. I think it was a fairly recent show. I loose track because of the PVR. It was orange and thin and $500, but it powered a full sized laptop for something like 5 hours. I will see if I can find a link for you.

In our informal tests with the PowerPad 160, we were able to operate for more than 10 hours before we got tired of computing. In short, PowerPad outlasted us even with power-hungry 802.11b hardware in constant use. Electrofuel claims the 160 will supply power for 12 to 16 hours depending on the notebook, while the new 120 version can keep you mobile for 8 to 12 hours. We have yet to test the 120, but if the 160 is any indication, it will equally impress.

Sounds like a good product as long as you remember to buy some velcro. :)

Electrofuel doesn't include a method of affixing your notebook, so it tends to slide off when you're working on an uneven surface.
