Hello all, for Christmas I got a new SanDisk SDMX1 - 1024 1 GB MP3 player. I tried to use it at our house but it wouldn't work. I would plug it in and try to copy music files over to it (Both MP3 and WMA files) and it would copy some of the music files over and then after about two songs worked it would say "Windows - No Disk. Please insert a disk into the X(whatever usb port the player was plugged into)" and there would be three buttons "Retry, Continue, and Close". It didn't matter what one I clicked it would continue on and finish downloading the music to it but when I turn the player on to listen to them it would show that the file size was 0 KB and the player would just skip over it.

The computer I am using is a HP Pavilion 750c BTW. So I try on a different computer (HP laptop but I can't remember which one) and it would work fine with no problems at all. I tried using different USB ports, changing the drive letter, updating drivers, deleting drivers etc. and nothing has worked.

I'm sorry if that was a little 'wordy' I just didn't want to leave any important info out :) . Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Now I can drag and drop the files onto the player without any errors and it shows them on there and they are full size but when I go to play them it just skips over them... :censored

On the requirements it says that the player needs USB 2.0 for High Speed downloading and we don't have 2.0...would that make a difference because I don't want to buy the card and still have it not work...

HP's are very low quality computers. Maybe thats the problem. I got a dell DJ and it runs fine on my dell computer. Have no problems with WMA . Maybe you should return it and get a new one ore a Dell Pocket Dj (200 dollers) just a suggestion. Or more radical a new computer

Yeah i have this sandisk mp3 player, the 512mb one. I have files on there that i cant seem to get off. When i did have mp3s on there it sounded like the songs would skip. I cant even turn it on, when i do it sits at the welcome screen then the whole screen just turns black. Ive tried it on several computers, even my dads dell laptop and it still has the problems, anyone know what to do about this piece of crap player?

Hello,

I am having the same troubles that are beind described in this form. I can copy some files on to the mp3 player, however, usually half way through the album it just stops and the same errors described above are displayed.

Has anyone discovered the fix for this as of yet? Is it one of the USB settings? Is the the fault of the mp3 player?

Hello,
I am having the same trouble with my sandisk mp3 player as you were having. What was the solution to your problem?

It would appear that the problem is being caused by Windows XP service pack 2. For some reason it is fudging up the power transfer. I spoke with a sandisk tech. and they indicated a fix would be released later this year with Service pack 3. Thanks a lot microsoft that really doesn't help me now!
