weird icon

I have an audiovox 8900 and i've had it for about 7 months and just tonight this weird little icon popped up that i've never seen before. It's to the left of the 1x icon and to the right of the signal bars..right in between those is a little sideways bell (prob supposed to be a speaker) with like little lines coming out of it...anyone else have this on their phone?? what is it?
