Hi guys, pleeeease help!
Every time i open windows explorer, my start site has gone and instead I keep getting this site:
res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm
I also cant access some pages like yahoo now and keep getting porno pop-ups.
I've already run Ad-aware se and Spybot S&D but they don't seem to be able to find it.
F-secure comes up with something called Trojan.Win32.StartPage.ig , which might be it. However, it is not able to delete it from the system or desinfect the file or whatever.
Here's my HijackThis log:

What do you think of this file?.........Jim

i really have no idea, my gf found 6 infected files on here the other day and "removed" the virus/torjan without making a note of what the problem was called - maybe it is something to do with that...
if i go into processes i have explorer .exe on the list
i located the file and took a screenshot, am i safe to delete the explorer on the right with the hand as an icon? (it is 22.3kb in size)

Hi Davey, Dont delete it yet, I want ECA to take a look at it.
I'm looking on my computer and I only have the first two on the left. The one with the hand is not on my computer. So I'm guessing its bad.
You may want to Right click it go to Properties see what it says,Check the date, see when it was created. compare it with the date of the other ones.
Dont left click it.
lllllDaveylllll
01-10-2005, 02:35 AM
i haven't executed it, however i did look at the dates, and it kinda makes me think it's more to do with the virus.. the infected files were from 01/01/05 up to 08/01/05... the date that file was last midified was 01/01/04
i'll check back later to see if there is anymore news, thanks

http://www.viruslist.com/en/find?search_mode=full&words=explorer*.exe&x=12&y=7
132 versions of this are Virus..
There are to many to figure out WHICH one this is..
http://startup.iamnotageek.com/srch-explorer.exe.html
Easy way to get most of these is threw email... SET your email options to READ TXT format only.. NEVER open ANYTHING, unless you ASK the person who sent it, WHAT IT IS...And THEY KNOW they sent it.
hold on...

Looks like this one is still here
C:\WINDOWS\explorer*.exe
Is that explorer with the hand still there?
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [plfpcxpunbdob] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dgxgmt.exe
this is virus or trojan too.
Another file here I am uncertain about is this one
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SbUsb AudCtrl] RunDll32 sbusbdll.dll,RCMonitor
cannot find any info on it.
lllllDaveylllll
01-10-2005, 02:54 PM
yep - i deleted it but it has came back ... i also tried to run another virus scan and pc cut out twice after getting to certain point :censored :dunno
i removed dgxgmt.eve from system32 manually while in safe mode, after rebooting that file isnt in that folder, even after running a search in there...
do u advise against removing/fixing the 1 u arent sure about?
ill see if the 1 u said is a virus/trojan makes a difference with the exploring hand *lol* after it has been removed
ill update u soon
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SbUsb AudCtrl] RunDll32 sbusbdll.dll,RCMonitor <<< could that possibly be from my soundcard? it is a Sound Blaster Audigy card... connects by usb connection...

ok, i ran AVG and it has found further infected files, so far the viruses infecting them are:
Backdoor.Zins
Dropper.Bridge.A
Downloader.Agent.AS
hopefully i will be able to remove them myself but any pointers before hand would be much appreciated, thanks.
after i've done this i aim to run spybot s+d, ad-aware and spyware blaster - then get a new log from hijackthis and i will post it here, in the forum in hope somebody can help out.... very greatful for all the help so far, thanks.

Hi,
Please help! I am having the same problem. I'd tried Ad-aware SE and Spybot S&D with all updates, no luck with both of them. Internet explorer reset my home page everytime to:
res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm
and porno pop-ups come right after that.
Enclosed is my Hijackthis v1.99 log file, please take a look.

Hello,
I also have the same problem with my homepage being taken over by res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm.
The following logfile was completed after running Antivirus software, Spybot and AD-Aware SE. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to fix this problem.
Thanks
