I bought a 2nd hand PC with XP installed, the harddrive has been formatted in NTFS.

I want to uninstall this XP and replace it with Win2000. But maybe its in NTFS, so I couldn't format the C drive in DOS. Also Win2000 in an older version than XP, so I couldn't simply install it while I'm in XP.

Can anyone please tell me what I can do to downgrade it from XP to Win2000? Thank you very much! :)

yeah what you can do is boot from the cd rom from xp format it to fat 16 or whatever you want to foramat it to or you cound justy boot from cd rom from win 2k because if youre mobo supports booitng from cd-rom you can install 2000 without booting from dos, ti boot from cd all you do is enter bios at the boot screen and change the boot order from harddrive to cd-rom

You need the full version of 2000 in order to install from the CD during the boot process.

Did you try rebooting with the win2k CD in? Make sure the CDROM is a bootable drive in the bios if it is not working. If it won't format the drive before it install's it.

If you have the upgrade of win2k than it might ask you if really want to install an older operating system or something like that, but you should be able to launch the setup.exe on the CD while you are in windows xp.
