OK, so I got an HD3 player for Xmas & it is a pretty cool piece of kit.
However Sonicstage and some of Sony's security stuff is really bugging me!
The one that it is currently irritating me most is the reluctance of the software to allow me to use the HD3 with more than one PC.
I have a laptop & desktop (pretty common combination I would have thought).
I set the HD3 up & used it first with my desktop & worked my way round Sonicstage. Reasonably happy with Atrac3+ & in a way it was good for me to re-rip a few CD's to a new format as it amde me clean out the stuff on MP3 I haven't listened to for ages.
Then set up, from the same installation disc, Sonicstage on my laptop at work. Ripped a couple of CD's & tried to transfer them tot he HD3 - then the problems began!
First of all there's some sort of software block that simply will not allow Sonicstage to transfer files tot he HD3 via my laptop. Sony's FAQ offers some sort of authorisation solution for the HD series but it simply doesn't work as the required tabs are not accessible from within Sonicstage.
My next thought was to copy the Atrac3+ files via Windows explorer on tot he HD3 & then transfer them into the library properly when i got home.
You guessed it - this doesn't work either as I don't have the "rights" to the CD stored & registered ntot he desktop machine - grrr.
I can see why Sony are trying to be tough on music copying but this all seems really dumb to me?
Anyone know of a way round the problems?
