I've recently been downloading entire albums in 1 file as an .mp3. I was wondering if there were any programs that let you take that .mp3 and split it into the tracks of the album, so you had a track for each song. Thanks.

If the post includes a cue sheet it is possible to recreate the cd it came from... But if it's just one mp3, I'm not sure about that, .wav files are the way to go.

but with what program? I've got sonar, but that would be time consuming. I was wonderin if you could just punch in some #'s and it would split em up for you. Maybe not.

Well it wouldn't be that hard to make a program that did such a thing. Isn't the whole point to put the albumn on cd anyways? What is the purpose of downloading the whole thing anyways. If you want a single song than search for the song title, not the albumn that it is on.
Here is my suggestion. Purchase / Download a copy of Soundforge or Cooledit. It will open your MP3 into a WAV file so you can edit it. scale down the whole albumn so you can see the entire thing or just fast forward until you come to a break. Select everything before that and do a cut and paste into a new file. This is going to take a while because you are editing large files. I don't think that would be able to edit the file directly because as you know MP3 is a form of compression. Just as a zip / rar file you must undo the compression before you edit the content. I could see a program that would search for that break between songs and cut the file at that point automatically. It might be built into one of those programs that I mentioned. I am not sure, you will have to look. Let us know what you find.
