I'm new to the forum so I hope I'm not repeating a topic...but I was helping my friend on his pc with some spyware and I stumbled on a file called *wmstu.exe in his run and runservices folder. Is this a legit file, i've never seen it and I was going to remove it. I removed the file from the folders in regedit, but when I closed the folder and then reopened it it always returns? Should he have any concerns about this file? I was able to remove quite a few bugs such as ncase, dso exploit, and DyFuCA internet optimizer as well as admanager but I dont know if he should address this .exe file? Any input would be appreciated, thanks Gary

Have you heard of any programs by the company Soft Talk?
I typed in the file name wmsvc.exe and it led me here.
http://www.filesland.com/companies/Softalk-Ltd/products.html
If you downloaded this program on your own it may be ok.
Let me check the rest of your log, see if I can see anything.Be Back tonight........Jim :vivi

Did you ask your friend about this website? Did he have any of the programs listed on it on his computer?
http://www.filesland.com/companies/...d/products.html
I'm beginning to think that file is bad. There was 2 of these on his first log [*wuauclt.exe]
Now there are 3 of them which means something reloaded after we deleted the last stuff.
Reboot to Safe Mode
Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wmsvc.exe
Still in Safe Mode Click Fix Checked on these.

Go to the Search Function
Start/Search/All Files and Folders/More Advanced Options
Make sure all three of these are checked.
1.Search System Folders
2.Search Hidden Files and Folders
3.Search Subfolders
Then go back and see if you can find them.........Jim

If you are running WorkgroupMail as an executable then we can provide a program called StopWM.exe that will shut down the WorkgroupMail Server
They say they can provide this program, but where is it?
They do have contact us links, hmmmm........Jim
