I've probably already said this before...but this is a great anime. I just finished watching the last few episodes (finally!) last night, and all I have to say is, this is a really complete and entertaining anime.
I haven't watched anime for too long, probably about 6 or 7 months, but this is definitely the best anime I've seen.
Here's a lil snip from Anime News Network:
Akito Tenkawa finds himself in the eye of the storm when Jovian Lizard invaders attack his home planet of Mars. Mysteriously transported to Earth after the attack, he becomes a cook and hopes never to face the alien menace again. However, when Akito runs into his childhood friend, Yurika Misumaru, he's swept aboard the High Mobile Battleship Nadesico and becomes both the ship's cook and temporary giant robot pilot. Barely surviving his first mission against the Jovians, Akito must now face new duties aboard a starship with the most oddball crew ever assembled: a voice actress, a secretary, a child prodigy, a perverted mechanic, a robot-obsessed anime geek, and Yurika (the admiral's daughter) running the show. Akito has plenty of questions about his past, but those might have to wait as the Nadesico defends itself from both the Jovians and the Earth forces who are trying to take control of the starship.
It can be described as a sort of parody to Neon Genesis, Gundam, Macross, etc. But this anime has everything in it, comedy, drama, action romance, and a wonderful plot.
ALL of the characters are very unique and loveable....and you might even find yourself getting attached to some of them.
One thing I've found with many animes is that there are parts/series that can lose its viewers, that may not make sense, that may have nothing to do with the story/plot, aren't explained that well, etc etc....but Martian Successor Nadesico feels like a complete anime. No corners were left unturn, the entire plot and subplots developed nicely.
I actually was hesitant to see the last few episodes of this series because I never wanted it to end, yet at the same time I was curious and excited on how it would end.
Another reviewer states:
Never have I laughed to hard and had my heart, ache so much by one series. I would love to describe what Nadesico is all about but I really don't think I can do it justice. It is one of those rare anime that you simply must experience yourself.
and I must agree with that entire quote. I was very hesitant when I first heard of this anime, cause it didn't seem as popular as some of the other series. But I read a few reviews online and decided to check it out...and that is something I will never regret.
This is a must see for ANY anime fan. Even if you're not big into the anime scene, but enjoy comedy, drama, romance, action, and a colorful cast...this could be something that is worthwhile to check out.
here's a link to the review for discs 1 & 2 (out of 6):

So anyways, I usually don't write up too much about movies/animes I've seen and liked...but I just felt that this particular anime series deserved a little spot light, as it was an amazing series and almost anyone could enjoy it :)
If you guys have any questions about this anime, or just want to make a comment, most definitely post :D
Thanks for reading this guys!
