I am confused by this, why would you pay a company to rip your music for you?

"What do they do, in 10 words or less? Dmp3 converts your CD library into a perfectly organized MP3 library. "

I think its actually fun creating a library on my own.

"Ron says his biggest deterrents to ripping his own CDs are that it takes a long time and maintenance, especially including the problem that he typically has to fix up the metadata (artist name, album title, etc) after he's done."

Doesn't Windows Media Player 10 do all this for you? Takes me about 2 minutes to rip a CD with all of this information in there.

grip works fine for me. I do admit that if i had to start ripping from scratch I would seriously think about it, but that is mostly because of my rather large collection.

They want like $250 to rip it for you though. I would rather spend that money on a new hard drive and rip the music myself!

I can understand it if you have hundreds of CDs. That pretty time consuming. Is your time worth saving $250 or not? If it takes me 15 hours to rip it myself, i think I might pay the $250.

It takes like 2 minutes to rip a CD. And would you want your WHOLE collection ripped? I don't know, but I would olny rip the CD's I like lol.

I only buy cds i like. :) (granted, there are a few i only like a few songs off of, but I tend to rip the whole thing anyways.) And yes, I have pretty much my whole collection ripped.

You are a smart ass. And I doubt that you would spend $250 dollars to have your collection ripped. :P

ROFL. You make me laugh! Seriously. 2 min per cd * even 200 cds. It would cost less to pay someone $250 to rip then for me to lose my time to do it myself.

I have to agree with dang on that one. If your collection is not that big then I'd do it myself. but when the cd stack reaches past 1000, I would rather keep a few that I was going to listen to durring that time and let them have it. It would also be nice to have that report of what I have in my collection sorted by type, artist, ect. I know that I could just do that myself but I am to lazy and I do not have a spare weekend to do about half of my collection for me.

I got an e-mail from these guys the other day:

This is Chris and I just started an online business called RipMedia CD Conversion Service. I've been checking out your website for sometime now and I thought that I might have a service that some of your readers would be interested in. The url is http://www.ripmedia.net.
The prices start out at .89 cents a CD and includes shipping. I send them a customer kit which gives them instructions, prepaid shipping labels, shipping materials and insurance and they receive their order in a week. The difference between RipMedia and other CD conversion services is that our customers have a choice of encoding formats including MP3, WMA, AAC, or OGG. They can choose for us to load it on their digital music player or on a DVD. If you have any question just email me at christopherryan@ripmedia.net.

Thanks for your time.

Christopher Ryan

Whats shady is that it was sent from a Gmail account: jcashisalegend@gmail.com

It makes me wonder how legit this is.

Actually now that I think of it, he probably used the Gmail account for a mass mailing eh?
