Is Net Zero your service provider? A few strange files here from them.

C:\Program Files\NetZero\exec.exe

Heres what I found on the file exec.exe

http://www.processlibrary.com/results/ (type in the name exec.exe)

Unless theres 2 files with the same name?????

ECA what do you think about this?..........Jim :dunno

I couldn't get the link to work.
Yes, Net Zero is our provider. We've had them for years.
Not sure what that file is either.
Thanks for taking a look.
Did everything else seem OK?

Theres still some things to clean here. I wanted to know if you still had Net Zero. I didnt want to delete a file you may need.

That doesn't sound good.
Don't know if it's related but I'm suddenly getting a small amount of popups too. Between stopzilla and my yahoo toolbar it seems strange. Before this elite thing, I almost never got popups.

Ok I found some other info on exec.exe by Net Zero. It may be ok.
I found a few things here

Reboot To Safe Mode (tap F8 on Startup)

Delete this File

C:\Documents and Settings\Tracy Tobias\Application Data\othb.exe

Still In Safe Mode Place a check next to each of these and click Fix Checked.

I've tried a dozen times and it won't go into safe mode.
I did it yesterday and it was fine now it won't.
Also, do you know what MDS SErach Booster is?
I saw it in my add/delete pragrams list and I'm not sure what it is.

When you start the computer continuously tap the F8 button. It should get you there.

I'm not sure what that program is. Check the Date on it, If you know you did not install it get rid of it.

If you cant get into Safe Mode try it in Normal Mode and fix those entries........Jim

System Restore may set it back to when you could get into Safe Mode

Start/ All Programs/Accessories/ System Tools/ System Restore..Set it back a day or two.

But try the F8 a few more times before you do that.........Jim

OK...
after major headaches, I finally got the internet working again.
I deleted those files and I don't know what happened but I could connect to the internet but could not open/load any web pages.
I finally dumped and reinstalled net zero and I'm up and running but windows updates keep staying stuck at 34%. Been a problem since yesterday. Any ideas?

here's my latest log:

I see that file we were talking about is gone now, the two I had you fix are gone also.

Looks clean now. Download SpywareBlaster for prevention Here is the link.

If the updates are stuck, I would reboot and start over. Is your internet dial up? If it kicks you off the internet the downloads will stop.

I've noticed if you are active on the internet it wont kick you off as much. If you leave the computer for 10 minutes and are inactive, it kicks you off. At least thats what happens to my friend.........Jim

Thanks for all your help. Seems like everything is running again.
Updates are now at 36% - I hate dial up. :(

I haven't been booted off the internet and pages are loading.

Also, I'm not getting those irritating oinadserve popups.

Spywareblaster has been running a few days.

Seems like maybe my computer is cured.

I truly appreciate all of your help and if you ever need any assistance/advice related to travel (I used to be a Travel Agent and have traveled quit a bit), email me - I owe ya one.
Thanks again,
Tracy :rotfl
