I don't follow the scanner market very closely, so I don't kow the answer to this question.
Do they have USB 2.0 or Firewire scanner on the market? If so, how much and please send a link.
Thanks

Ya USB 2.0 is out in full force. I would have thought that the companies would have waited longer to integreate the connection into their top of the line and on down, but it seems that most new models these days are going to be USB 2.0. Firewire has and still is reserved for the top of the line brands because we all know what those MAC addicts love to pay more. :)
I found a couple of links to scanners made by the top manufacters. I would have to go w/ CNET on the one I would most recommend and say that the Epson is the best of the bunch.
Epson Perfection 2450 Photo

or if you don't need to scan 4x5 negatives.
Epson Perfection 2400 Photo

If you want something cheaper, smaller and with more resolution. Buy the Cannon 5000F. They haven't reviewed this particular item so it is hard to tell how quick it is going to be. I would still highly recommend it, even over the 2400 Epson.

If you want a cheap scanner that will just be used to scan photographs AND you have to have USB 2.0 than probably you would want to take a look at the HP 3570c.

The CNET dumb asses don't even talk into consideration the different resoultions of the scanners when they compare scanning speeds. I also think that they have a major Epson Bias. If you look at the top 10 Sanners something like 5 of them are made by that company.

Tigerdirect.com seems to have two USB 2.0 scanners made by Microtek.
Microtek M21-4114 @ $129 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?sku=M21-4114)
Microtek M21-4116 @ $179 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?sku=M21-4116)

I wouldn't go running off to buy the Microtek because you will pay for what you get. Not the best scanner manufacter on the market these days. Visoneer and HP are good for EL-Cheap-O's, better than Microtek's I would say.
Better hardware usually translates to more acturate color scans done in less time. Also look at the software that come with it. Does Microtek include OCR?

So which scanners would you recommend?
Acer has a few decent ones, but CHECK for current drivers.
Theyve updated mine 2 times in 1 year.. The first ones were out so fast, they SUCKED.

The ones that I listed above would be most excellent if you are looking for a USB 2.0 device.
I would have to get some different links for you if you want something older. Let me know. What price range are you looking for? Do you want to scan negatives?
