Some help needed here please before I smash it up :censored

I bought this today and have been trying to work it out in the abscence of any decent instructions. I have successfully downloaded music and will spend some hours using trial and error to get to grips with the functions.

However there is one very basic thing I can't do.

How do I turn it off??!! Do you just have to wait until the idle runs out? because the power switch on the top where you turn it on doesn't turn it off or should it do and mine is faulty? :dunno

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

You have to hold the power switch for a few seconds until it says shutting down on the screen.

The power switch does it, but you have to hold it over for a couple seconds. Just push and wait until it says its powering down.

Jesus! Apologies for wasting your time guys. I'm sure I was trying that earlier but it worked fine then.

Thanks for your help.

Have either of you got one of these? If so how do you rate it?

I am officially reviewing on for Designtechnica and I will give it a 5 or 6 out of 10. I should have the review up later tonight or tomorrow.

I found that its prone to locking up, the battery life is terrible and seems to drain even when its not in use. Dang, who also posts in the forums, is having trouble getting it to work with Real's Rhapsody. The touch pad is too sensitive and I am constantly keeping the player on "hold" to prevent accidently touching the pad.

mmmm, doesn't sound too hopeful. I went for this over the iPOD because it doesn't have a built in battery after hearing all the problems my friends have had with their iPODS, including my wife.

So are you saying I've just chucked £180 down the drain??

I didn't say it - you did! :P

I would have checked out iRiver or Samsung to see what they offer. I am sorry. I really wanted to like the Zen Micro but after using it for a couple months I am fairly dissapointed.

I forgot to mention that if you update the firmware on your Zen Micro, it will supposedly erase the units drive including all your songs. I have not tried that personally, but several people have mentioned it.

I wasn't even aware of the iRiver, just goes to show my ignorance.

I'll leave that upgrade well alone then, thanks for the warning.

I'll stick a post on here in a couple of months with my 'Zen' experience, hopefully it will be more favourable than you guys :thumb

I can not get my Zen to do anything. Every time I turn it on it stays on firewall???? I have had it for a year like this, and am about to throw it away. If anyone could help that would be great!

Have you tried reformatting your whole mp3 player EliteArchery? Take out your battery, hold the on switch, then put the battery back in. This should lead you to a certain menu with format on it. Try that. I myself have had a Zen Micro. I personally really liked it. No, I'm not just saying this because I'm a Creative fan. Yes, I've had problems in the past with it. The first problem was that in the first week I bought, my friend was listening to it and I was hold it, he then moved to the side and the mp3 player dropped. I had to return it because it wouldn't do anything even if I reformatted it.

Okay so first try was a failure, I still had hope in the mp3 player, so I bought it again. It's working perfectly then one day the headphone jack-in got very loose, then the music was distorted. I ignored it for like 6 months. I got tired of it, then called creative, sent it to them, fixed it and even added new, fresh, things to it; After like 3 months I lost it or someone stole it from my pocket.

To be honest, I'm considering about buying it again. Just because it's very cheap right now. I'm still thinking about iRiver H10. This just shows my ignorance.
