Anyone else notice graphics problems with the VIA KT400 chipset and the Radeon 9700PRO video card? I have heard some rumors about 8X AGP incompatibility issues. Whats the word on this?
Some games run real choppy on my system for some reason with this setup, so I thru a GF4MX card in instead.

I do know that ATI Radeon cards hate ASUS boards... I've always had problems with that combination even from the early radeons. Not sure if that info helps you at all, but put it in the memory bank :P

That sucks that you are having problems with your card. You mentioned that you might go and buy a geforce4 in another thread. I hope that is working better for you. Always a good idea to try a different piece of hardware and see if that fixes the problem. It sounds like it could be a either of the two possiblities that you guys have pointed out.

The Geforce 4 card works great with this motherboard, but lacks the AGP 8X support that the Radeon 9700PRO has. I read over on AMDMB.com about similar issues, but then the article dissapeared.....weird eh?
I will mess around this the Radeon 9700PRO a little more. With ATI, I am sure its driver issues of some sort. They have the best hardware, but their driver support has always been lacking.
I heard that the ATI chipset, hates VIA chipset. The current ASUS boards with VIA, are said to be working tho.

Yes, two different motherboard manufacturers.
ONLY earlier revisions of the ATi Radeon 9700 have problems. The draw too much power from the AGP socket of 8xAGP boards causing all sorts of probs, including not powering up at all.
Suppliers are taking the early boards back from customers and replacing them with later revisions.
I have a niggle in my head that says 1.3 and above is fine, but below they have some probs with some 8xAGP boards.
